I understand hippo is an insult here, but without having seen the commercial and this having zero context, I’m imagining an actual hippo wearing orange spandex doing exercises
And that’s kind of amusing.

No way she did that pose on her own. It took a crew to set her up. The commercial does check the boxes for social equality, though.

The way I look at it is she’s just starting out to become fit. I hope that’s the insinuation though.
