And then a few years later, we had the top quarterback and top receivers again and won a Heisman, but then BK fricked up and didn’t build a good defense. We proved we could be the top offense in the country yet again. If that defense is even remotely good, we have another national championship just two years ago. That 2019 offense will always be the best, but we came very close to replicating that production just a few years later.

If Lane won a chip at Ole Miss and they built a statue...no one would even care outside Ole Miss fans.

Lane wants a bigger stage. Where that is, who knows but it's not in Oxford, MS.

I don't care what he does, I'm not an Ole Miss fan so I'm just an objective observer. I'm just saying he'd be better off staying at Ole Miss and forging his own historical path. Pre NIL/transfer portal I'd say yeah, take either the LSU or UF job. But now? There's no need to, they can get just as good of players as anyone. So what's the advantage?

I know this doesn’t apply to an Alabama fan, but Tiger Stadium at night is a pretty damn enticing thing. Kiffin has never won there as a head coach. And, after six years already, Kiffin has failed to make it to Atlanta, a playoff or a national championship at OM. And you’re asking why should he consider leaving? Brian Kelly made it to Atlanta in his first year and helped bring us a Heisman in his second year. So we are supposed to sit here as LSU fans and say yes, Ole Miss has passed us up as a program? Sure, they will probably make the playoffs this year, but then their schedule is gonna finally get much harder. He has benefited from an easy schedule for several years now. That’s changing next year.

Oh, I'm not saying LSU shouldn't go after him. I'm coming at it from Lane's standpoint of if this were pre NIL/Xportal then he'd be an idiot not to take the job. But not now. He can get just as good of players at Ole Miss as he could at Alabama, LSU, UF, etc. There's no real big recruiting advantage anymore for the above mentioned teams. It's now about playing time and $$$ and kids are prioritizing these things over program prestige and historical relevance. Sure, you've still got some kids who choose schools the old way but not many. They're going to where the playing time and the $$$ is, and school name isn't as important as it used to be.

True…. but, with all these changes in NIL, he has still not accomplished anything truly great at Ole Miss. That’s the point I’m trying to make. Everybody keeps saying why leave it’s just as good, well it’s clearly not.

Ok and just like they moved to Oxford they can move to Gainesville or Baton Rouge.. I am sure either Florida or LSU will fund it.. Lane Kiffin is going to take the job he thinks will be best for him, the family will gladly follow

He's not accomplishing those things at Ole Miss because of the players. He's not accomplishing them because of him. Lane's weakness has always been (up to this point) of starting off a season hot then ending up losing two possibly three big games he shouldn't on the back half of the schedule. Leaving Ole Miss isn't going to change that. He's going to have to adjust something in how he prepares his team and how he coaches in those situations. If he went to LSU or UF that element would follow him until he fixes that about him. It's not the players.

“Jobs that weren’t great jobs before are now. Lane is the first name up for Florida and the first name up for LSU, but I think you can have a long debate on whether either one of those jobs is actually better than the job he has now because he has some guys over there at Ole Miss that give him pretty much whatever he wants from a roster standpoint," Saban said.

Hues you missed that

So family are not allowed to go from one city to another with each other? Landry would probably be just fine heading down to Baton Rouge, especially if Weeks hang around for another season. You’ve got Austin Thomas down here who we heard is going to be very involved in interviews, watch out for that. Lane loves Frank Wilson, I’m sure it can’t hurt the thought of reuniting with him as well. We have great HS football down here in Baton Rouge, the number one HS quarterback for 2027 is sitting right in Baton Rouge. There are plenty of great high schools Knox can go and continue his career as a high school quarterback. The real question is does Lane have the balls to actually get out of his little velvet ditch down there in Oxford and try to come lead the Tigers? That I don’t know if he does. I guess we will see.

Lane.

Is.

Not.

Going.

To.

LSU.

Not that Lane leaving Ole Miss for LSU would have happened before, but now no sane P4 coach with a good, stable job would set foot on LSU's campus after what Guv Landry said.

Let me rephrase: not that Lane would have happened before...

Multitudes of reasons, including, but not limited to, low pressure at Ole Miss, kids and wife, life in Oxford, Ole Miss will give him whatever he wants, playoffs make it easier to be in the NC hunt at Ole Miss now...

As for the Guv situation, did you not hear how he got involved in the Kelly firing and has now made statements related to the hiring of there new coach?

He's only "involved" because LSU doesn't have a president right now, that will be rectified long before a hire is made.

Did he not get "involved" in the firing of Kelly? Did he not get "involved" in the hiring process when he bemoaned buyouts and basically said the AD was sidelined for the hiring of there new coach?

What sane coach with a good P4 job that pays well wants a politician breathing down his neck?

You ever see super troopers?

Shenanigans-

“I swear the next person to say “shenanigans” I’ll pistol whip em”

Hey Farva (cleaning up in the back, oblivious to the conversation), what’s the place you go for the goofy
shite on the wall and the mozzarella sticks?

“You mean Shenanigans?”

Just a bunch of talk really. Landry also said LSU has a losing record right now, he also said Trump may pick the next coach.

He's just a grandstanding dumbass and won't be actually involved.

I don't really think he was involved with the decision to get rid of BK, he's just taking credit because he knows it's popular.
