That's not what "dark horse" means

"A dark horse is a little-known person or thing that emerges to prominence, especially in a competition of some sort[1] or a contestant that seems unlikely to succeed.[2]"

In context of being dark horse candidate, his usage of "least likely to actually win" among those considered legitimate contenders is pretty appropriate.

Mizzou plays LSU in the West so thats one guaranteed loss. UGA doesnt have to play LSU so Mizzou is already at a disadvantage

Yea, we would be pissed if the Social Justice Warriors won the East again.

In a conference as popular and well covered as the SEC, there is usually a reason that nobody is talking about a particular team. They aren't expected to be good and usually aren't.

Is that why the press is so great at picking who will win the SEC?

Because they are consistently underrated?

On paper I like A&M a lot actually, but I still think Sumlin is a joke, and UCLA was excited to see Mazzone leave

They're usually a lot better at picking the teams that finish last though

Because, by definition, their victory would be unexpected

If Missouri can find an offense I wouldn't be surprised if they won 8 or so games. But winning the East? I doubt it

I actually think Mizzou will be better than most people believe and wouldn't be shocked if they beat us week 2.

Mizzou was probably the last dark horse to win the SEC. That was a little while ago. Before that, which dark horse won the SEC? You might have to go back to 2000 LSU.
