Some pretty pathetic effort there too.

he even said yesterday that rebounding was the most overrated stat in basketball. thats just silly. i get Anderson plays the game a little differently but if you cant rebound you cant be successful. it's pretty simple.
Arkansas has hit the offensive boards better today than yesterday though.

I agree with this statement.

To admit that rebounding is an important part of basketball will be to admit that Anderson isn't Jesus Christ. It's not happening. Not this year.
Rebounding is over rated, people make it out to be more than it is.
Quinnipec led the country in that statistical category last season, Mizzou was second, neither one made it the round of 32 in the tourney.

There are always exceptions to the rule. Where did the final four teams rank the last few years? Hnestly curious.

Sorry Dale, I love you like a brother but I feel like I'm one of the growing minority that thinks rebounding is very important.

If you don't play defense, it doesn't matter how well you rebound (Mizzou's problem at the end of last year). So, rebounding isn't a total solution for a team.
But, if you can't rebound, it severely limits the impact of a good defense. Missed shots due to good d become easy putbacks because of weak rebounding.

All a defensive rebound does is end a possession, a steal or forced turnover does the exact same thing.
An offensive rebound is worth nothing more than extending a possession unless points are the result.
So to accurately chart it, you would have to determine how many points resulted from an OFF board on both ends. Most people just do it as a rebound margin differential which is important, but varies from game to game.
A team could get 45 boards a game but it wouldn't matter if they were -10 in the differential, it gets even worse when the -x in turnover differential.
Rebound statistics are a non important statistic.
Most games are won or lost on the free throw line anyway, either by a team missing free points or by the differential in attempts and makes in a game.

If a team is shooting 45% and gets 10 offensive rebounds, that does translate into points, theoretically and pragmatically (offensive rebounds often result in fouls or short shots).

It is certainly not a guaranteed way to win a game. But poor rebounding is not a good guarantor of winning either.

Ive just caught the second half so far, but we look the better team. Have we looked better all game?
Posted on 11/26/13 at 2:10 pm to DaleDenton

Excluding the last 2 min of the 1st when we were outscored 9-1 because we played sloppy we have looked a ton better
