Looking at Hogville, I'm not sure how so many people there seem confident Gruden will be the guy. They claim everyone 'in the know' is saying it, but apparently that doesn't include anyone at ESPN or their rivals or scout boards.

I s Gruden an offensive minded coach? The reason I ask is that I know he has his QB show on tv and if he is a QB guy that runs the offense I can see this particular Arkansas team being of interest to him. He may thing he can come in and win the big one with these guys.

Board traffic = $$$$.
Some have already started hedging their bets too.

Hogville is just trying to have their group therapy session to feel better. The Gruden thread is close to 300 pages, which shows you how much therapy was needed after Petrino. Nobody is in the know and Jeff Long loves trolling the fanbase.
Said it before, I won't believe Gruden is our coach until it is announced, I go to bed, wake up, and he is still our coach.

Gruden is an offensive coach. He would run a high powered offensive attack. This scenario actually sets up very well for him to come right in win big and then put his system completely in place with as much attention from ESPN as he wants.....it kind of makes sense for him. however i just don't think it would happen.

Then I think this rumor may have some truth to it. People like him are competative by nature and they love a challenge. When you see someone like Saban doing what he is doing, great coaches think they can beat it, it is just in their makeup. Same mentality as a recruit that comes to Alabama as a linebacker when we are loaded. Guys that are the best at what they do always think they can't beat out the guy in that position.
Arkansas is a good school with a great fanbase that has plenty of money and can compete in the SEC. I think it would be an out of the park hire and the AD would be an idiot to not at least go for Gruden.
Gruden would win in the SEC you can book that shite.

That's what makes it such an interesting rumor. It makes a lot of sense for him to come step in get his feet wet recruiting and game planning but let the assistants finish it out with these seniors. Then he can bring in his staff or retain who he thinks he wants to keep. Kind of a perfect situation for him to come in but at the same time i've seen the same situation a million times when it comes to information leaked from the BAC and it usually ends with a jim grobe type hire.

geez, that shows you how desperate some in our fan base have become. No way Gruden is our coach, and that board and its 300 pages of crap will blow up in EPIC fashion.

How do you figure the above ?

when you've worked somewhere that long you build a rapporteur with a lot of people. You think he won't be the inside scoop on what a coach thinks of the situation, just like saban does now.

If that's the case, I hope Long and his twitter love have a handle on his coy twitter impact. You'd think someone with that much social network savvy would know not to let the natives build.

I am beginning to think that 2-3 different people post under this account, because there's a whole lot of contradictions coming from said account. That, or you're the Arkansas of Bundy. You play dumb, but troll everyone.

There is one somewhat rational persona, and there is one homer persona. I've noticed the same thing.

I am not convinced that Gruden calling 16 games a year is enough to have any real pull on the king makers in Bristol however you are welcome to believe that Arkansas has that kind of nationwide draw

The people you need to know are the talk show hosts and people like the gameday staff. Thats how you get the publicity. Plus Gruden would at least know who to call to try and get our name out there more often than during coaching changes

One of the things that puzzles me about this whole thing is why a good coach that would turn down all sorts of programs, would then accept a position that has some talent, but that gives him absolutely no autonomy for the first year, anyway. Recruiting shouldn't be that hard for him. It just doesn't make logical sense to me.
It just seems like if you are a good coach, something like the relative state of a program wouldn't be the make or break deal. It seems like he would want to recruit his own players without being being dependent on another coach's entire staff and fingerprint. If Dooley were to leave Tennessee next year with the pantry bare, it would still be a better job than Arkansas with Gruden's personality taking hold after a few years... given of course the fact that what everyone is predicting about him is true. Why not just wait for something like that to come up?

supposedly this is his last out into coaching because of the new buyout on his espn contract which goes into effect in like September. So basically this is a bet that he is having a mid life crisis and wants to pick up some easy wins.

You may wanna click here and see where Arkansas stands in terms of marquee college football programs

Well it's a superficial motivation, that's for sure.
