Do i really need to lay out why the police wouldnt want to tip their hand at this point, especially when one of their suspects is 7 states away?
great. that still doesn't mean the Collins is a suspect...but whatever.

He's a suspect because it's his ex and reportedly his kid (this isnt factual yet though). So it's his ex and possibly he's the father of the kid.
Of course he's a suspect, or person of interest if you are so hung up on the word suspect. Either way it's pretty hilarious people are bashing schefter for reporting news.

Perhaps...just not sure why they wouldn't say he was a suspect if he actually is a suspect
B/c they likely don't have enough evidence at this time to name anyone a suspect and naming someone like him - a high profile person with (we assume) financial means - a suspect without sufficient evidence to do so does two things:
1) begin defense, which includes having your attorney view the evidence they have against you (can't review until you are named a suspect)
2) if they name him early and are wrong, they open themselves up for lawsuit
To name him a suspect now and be wrong completely ruins the guy's life. To say you want to question him could mean he knows the victim and may have info that is helpful. Means nothing specific about Collins, who by all accounts is a great dude and unlikely to be involved.

You're considered a high-quality poster on the Rant and evidently here as well. But this subject for you here and on the Rant has really got me feeling bad for you.
Seriously...You may wanna talk a walk around the office or listen to the radio or just log off for awhile. You're a good guy but this is getting the best of you obviously.

Are you under the impression that im on tilt or something? I'm just not naive. When a guys ex girlfriend who was possibly carrying his baby gets murdered by someone they think knew her then he's going to be a suspect. It really isnt that big of a deal and doesnt mean he did it. At all.

no he is one. what i was saying is in any case where the details are as such the guy in question is always going to be a suspect.

It's kind of semantics at this point. He's obviously not a named suspect. But I'm sure that when the investigation began they began looking into Collins as one of the starting points.
It's possible that with information learned so far they can almost mark him off and now just want to see what he can help with.
Or perhaps the book is still open on Collins and he's on even footing with everyone else in this lady's life, or everyone else that has theoretical motive.
Either way, he is or has been viewed with suspicion and investigative curiosity by the police. Where he stands now is unclear.

And don't forget the vast SEC ref conspiracy that the FBI has not yet investigated.
It's interesting that LSU folks seem to be pissed that the BRPD are actually doing their job, as is Schefter. This IS a news story after all.

A woman was killed and you guys are pissed that Collins is on the periphery of that story?
A woman is killed and you came to this thread, hoping Collins did it.
That would certainly take the focus off of Alabama players rotating through the Tuscaloosa jail.

I'm sure that you guys were equally upset with the media when Jonathan Taylor allegedly beat his GF up, right?
Who?

The whole thing is weird. people should just take a step back and let it play out.
Advocate article
Two interesting quotes that should cause this Collins talk to calm somewhat for a few hours at least:
Police are trying to talk to many people. You don't hear their names b/c they aren't projected to become a millionaire in 36 hours.
Why not at least say "they dated" or "they were friends" or "she was pregnant with his baby"? Odd to just completely avoid the topic.

“There are numerous other people who are going to be interviewed,” said Lt. Johnny Dunnam, a Baton Rouge police spokesman. “So he is one of many.”

When asked how Brittney Mills knew La’el Collins, Tia Mills said she could not comment on details about the investigation into her sister’s death.
“I’m going to let that play out the way it’s supposed to,” Mills said.

She was probably instructed to not reveal anything about their relationship.
