It was 2nd down. Florida would have either scored on 3rd down or kicked a chip shot FG and whooped that arse in OT.

It "broke the plane" with the ball in the receiver's hands.

Gaffney should've been suspended too because of stealing money and jewelry out of the locker room earlier in the year.

It was a terrible call. But it was only 2nd down, we probably could have forced a field goal, but that doesn't mean we would have won in overtime.

Our mistake was letting Chavis run that stupid mustang defense that allowed Florida to be in a position to win the game.

Still a terrible call though

Also : We ran a damn pitch play on 3 and 1, we get stopped behind the line. Florida gets the ball back, wins.

Randy Sanders and Chavis lost that game.

Wasn't that the year that Tennessee was stranded in the snow --St. Louis, KC or somewhere on their way to the old Cotton Bowl?

And didn't Kansas State beat you like you stole something? I believe y'all were something like 8-4?

That was just two years from the team that won it all.

If some of you inbreds understood the rules of the game...then it could be fun dissecting how the game unfolded....but ignorant "the refs suck" doesn't quite get it.

First of all I have watched many games where plays were called TDs with a millisecond of possession in the end zone. The catch was made for 3 milliseconds and that's that. If this call had been a UT receiver making the game winning catch a different tune would be coming from puke orange country.

And BTW those that scream in the stands about prevent type defenses need to study the game of football. More interceptions occur during seven and eight man drops than blitzing the kitchen sink. Try to figure out who to throw to when a eight man zone has the qb confused. You have to mix in zones and blitzes or get killed by good qbs.

I hope the pieces of glass cut up those Florida fans. I hope they then returned to their disgusting, mosquito filled, swamp shanties and lost limbs due to gangrene.

Perhaps you don't know what you're talking about. We weren't throwing different zone looks at Palmer.

To quote Chavis, "we were trying to keep everything in front of us", and while that works in the NFL, because the clock doesn't stop on first downs,it has proven, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, that it's a shitty strategy in college.
