He decreased some scholarships of some players, dramatically.
This is going to be one of those cases like Mullen - when he was employed by MSU, he can do no wrong and anything you hear is rumors and any bad things from former players are sour grapes.
Now that he's gone, you'll start to hear some more things.

Cyr was set to be an integral starter for MSU last year. Underperformed, rumors of team rule violations, etc.
What is known is that after Cyr got run off the team started playing a lot better. Take it for what it's worth

All college baseball coaches do it, it's the 35 man roster. You can blame gender equity too - baseball deserves full scholarships for baseball and a lot more of them.
