The Rams had him slotted to play guard when they drafted him as several posters have already said. If he is still playing guard in 3 years then it was a big waste to use a 2nd overall for him. But how about you wait until he has actually put on pads before you try to say he is a bust.

I havent read this anywhere...i didnt watch too many Titan's games last year, but the ones I saw he did fine.

Regarding this thread and others like it:
Dumb. The transition from college to NFL is tough. Pretty much every rookie struggles with it.

I was being facetious, as this GIF shows.

lol I know, one play doesn't mean much. He was an elite tackle in college nobody can deny that.

worst was hyperbola... but he was in the bottom 3rd (which isn't that surprising for a rookie starter).

titans had OL issues outside of warmack (still do, that's why they signed Blindside and drafted Lewan in the 1st round), so he wasn't getting a ton of help.... he still should've played better and not missed assignments... but it happens.

eta: really think he can make a nice step forward in year 2 and with a new philosophy on offense.

Oh if we are referring just to money made now instead of actual performance, I don't think it's really a competition when comparing to Alabama's first round picks.

Can we also start a thread with input from Auburn fans about how Andre Smith is a bust because he is one of the best RT's in the league, but Greg Robinson won't be even though he will start out playing guard?

No. It wasn't. Not at all actually. He was drafted because of his versatility. If healthy, Jake Long is the starting LT. Rodger Saffold was re-signed because of his versatility and ability to play LT if needed. Robinson is in much the same boat. He will remain at guard unless and until he's needed elsewhere.

You don't take Guards at #2 overall. Ever. Period.

When you take an OL that highly, it is because he is intended to be the LT. Not necessarily right away, but eventually. You don't put them at Guard though, they're a backup RT at worst. If they are lining up at OG, it means the team isn't sure they can handle OT.

The Rams and AU fans in here can make excuses and justifications and draw meaningless comparisons and try and spin this every which way, but none of it will change the facts. The Rams just drafted a guy at #2 overall with the expectation he'd play LT for them eventually and now they aren't even sure he can play Tackle at all.

The plan over all was always to play Robinson at guard as a rookie. Thats why the rams resigned the current LT to a short extension. That its hard making the jump to the NFL is also no surprise. Ask Andre Smith. At least GRob didnt show up to rookie camp as a fat slob.

This. The LT job was always Jake Long's. Robinson was drafted because of his versatility and was to initially play guard and, if needed, play tackle given Long's difficulty staying healthy. No one was going to come in and play tackle. Not Matthews. Not Lewan.
