Saw Snake and Steve Sloan beat Nebraska in '65 (I think) in Orange Bowl 39 -28 to win the championship. Years later was at Mullet Toss at FloraBama when Snake was Master of Ceremonies. The man was multi-talented. RIP.

He was calculating, cold-blooded, and accurate under pressure. Dude was 'clutch'.

And had more swag than the entire NFL today.

If you've never read his book, find it.....it's funny as hell

Tom Jackson just told a story where the Broncos were up in the 4th quarter and the Raiders got the ball back inside their own 10. Stabler came to the line of scrimmage and winked at him.

When I was a little kid in South Florida in the early 70s, the Dolphins were EVERYTHING. In '74, they were the two-time defending Super Bowl champs and , as a kid, you just knew they were never going to lose.

In the playoffs, they were playing the Raiders (the Raiders!) and the Fins scored in the 4th quarter to take the lead. My dad said, "They scored too early" I thought he was crazy. He just said, "Their quarterback is too good." Completely gut wrenching. And an Alabama guy did this to me!

RIP Kenny

Got to meet him a few times while he was still calling the games on the radio. Was always a pleasure.

Terrible news. My deepest condolences to his family and the Bama nation. Stabler was a great man and a legend not just to Bama fans but anyone who calls themselves a football fan. Rest in peace, Snake.
