Not everyone plays the same strength of schedule within the conference.

Remember, every team plays three locked-in rivals.

Are you Aggies short a few million brain cells?
The 9 game conference schedule is IDIOTIC.

But the 9 game schedule still sucks because you will even further eliminate teams that are playoff worthy while shitty teams with 10-2 records get the slots.

Heres the truth...the 9 game reg season is bittersweet. Its great for the fans to get more awesome reg season games...but it also sucks for those fans that their team is much less likely to make playoff and/or advance in playoff due to the increased physical grind of another competitive game.

The other conferences need to either 1) step up their scheduling bigtime OR 2) agree to basically spot SEC teams a loss due to the disparity in schedule difficulty

What is unacceptable is the SEC going to 9 conference games but keeping the status quo of teams with less losses always get benefit of doubt

Have you listened to the ESPN pundits this week?

Alabama at this point is not guaranteed a slot if they lose the SEC CG.

It will get even more sketchy when there is no SEC CG involved.
We will be totally at the mercy of ESPN hype.

that's a terrible idea. So every year one of of the top 2 SEC teams is eliminated in the 1st round, while one of Duke and Virginia gets to move on.. no way...any of the top 6 sec teams would wipe the floor with either ACC team.

Where did you see me say that I liked the nine game schedule

It looks like you’re the idiot

But because the morons that run this conference let in Texas and Oklahoma without getting any additional money, they are being forced to make us all schedule nine games to compete in the television market

Sankey should be fired

I responded to your quote.

If the schedules are not equal, the tie-breakers won't be equal as well.

Until we get schedules sos to be similar a 9 game sec schedule is ridiculous when other teams, that's are in the playoffs, play horrible schedules and get rewarded for it. It was stupid to agree to it. I don't mind easy cupcake games. It's nice to have a game you ain't got to stress about.

But the schedules have never been equal

Never

And what have we done?

We’ve gone off of conference record and division standings to determine who goes to Atlanta

You must be new to the SEC if you think that everyone that’s got to go to Atlanta has been the best team in their division

Again, opponents have never been equal

FSU is not in the SEC, so UA and UGA have the same Conference record and UA already beat UGA!

To be honest, from a pure performance standpoint, Ole Miss has the best team in the SEC this season.

It was the biased tie-breaker setup that kept OM out of the conference championship game.

Your hypothetical was simply countered by my hypothetical.

Neither currently reflects the reality at hand.

Tiebreak down to two teams, then head to head. If no h2h, then co-champs.

I don't want to see a 4 way split.

Untrue. Alabama, Ole Miss, UGA, and A&M all finished 7-1 in the SEC. Of those four teams, Alabama's conference schedule was the hardest when measured by opponents' winning percentage. That's why Alabama is the #1 seed in the SECCG. I don't know how you get any more unbiased than that.

There is nothing hypothetical about my retort, because The SEC Conference Championship game is based on W-L within the SEC. UA already beat UGA and UGA already beat UM (Ole Miss), so UA is the #1 seed in the SEC.

I think Ole Miss is the only one that wants to get rid of it. You know because they can't seem to ever make it..

Split the championship because the real prize is in the playoff nowadays

Agreed.

The tiebreakers are fine for getting a pecking order where it’s needed, but once you get to things like how well your opponents did (which you have no control over) it’s just not useful.

In a year where all the teams have one loss, you can always say “Don’t lose a game”. With 16 teams though, there is a very real possibility of multiple teams being undefeated. I don’t want that tie broken by comparing how well other teams did.

The SEC Conference Championship game

The SEC slots are based on tie-breakers.

I.E. Alabama
Above Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M based on conference opponent win percentage (0.5).

I.E Georgia
Above Ole Miss and Texas A&M based on conference opponent win percentage (0.4688).

Head to head match ups have nothing to do with the current tie-breaker arrangement.

Georgia is currently guaranteed a slot in the playoffs.

Alabama is currently not guaranteed a slot in the playoffs.
