The only real thing that Kiffin could have done differently IMO, was sending his family to Gainesville and Baton Rouge.

I get it that he says they haven't been anywhere but the stadiums, but it was still immature behavior IMO.

But if they "sneak in" and are caught, that looks bad too. I don't know what you do.

He should have waited until the season was over. He’s gonna be at LSU for a few years. If he risked losing his recruiting class in his first year at LSU, who cares? He’d be coaching in a playoff with Ole Miss.

Wait until Kalen DeBoer quits or gets fired at Alabama and see what Lane does to LSU.

I doubt that was an option.

Waited until after the playoff.
Wish he would have. But because of the NCAA calendar he could not.

He will leave us in a heartbeat. No one is under any illusions that he would not.

He and his agent were negotiating with teams a few weeks ago. Get OM to pony up what LSU offered and stay with the players who got you here. LSU is a more marquee name and program but Lane proved this year that he can be in the hunt at OM. With NIL and profit sharing you dont have to be at OSU, Bama or LSU to make the playoffs.

Look at Indiana and TT

Overall it seems the NCAA once again fricked things up with the calendar. Really Lane is not the true villain. That will always lie with the NCAA. But his trolling on X gets a bit old.

Stays at LSU.

That is a given. The question is whether or not he decimates your roster on the way out.

Not a question either. He is a mercenary.

Once again waiting till after the playoffs was NOT an option. LSU couldn’t wait 6 weeks without naming a coach considering signing date , portal , etc.
Gotta love these folks who think the world revolves around LSU. You're taking it as a given that, whatever happens, everyone has to agree that whatever suits LSU best must happen.

If LSU had to have a coach making a playoff run at a fellow conference school, they could have waited and taken whatever hit to their recruiting class (likely, not much) and portal class happened. They chose not to, which put Kiffin to a choice. But, what he could have done to make this process less ridiculous is not be such an internet troll, not send his family openly to BR to check out the situation (zero stealth involved), and not make the drama all about him.

Leaving a HC job in the NFL is nothing like leaving a CFB HC job.

NFL doesn't recruit.
Draft is in April
You don't have a portal to leave.

Saban left LSU on christmas day. Said the same things about not wanting to leave etc...avoided questions as all coaches do. There is really no right way to do it. But when he left LSU for the dolphins he could have waited til after the bowl game...what difference would a week have made when going to take a coaching position in the NFL? He actually had more reason to wait a week when he left LSU.

Nobody on this website besides OM fans is genuinely outraged about what kiffin did.

That’s not true. There have been many, many posts from many fan bases, myself included.

This has become like the PoliBoard and anything Trump related. The non-zealots just getting swarmed by people that can’t even admit the most basic flaws in the process.

The LSU posters here who have admitted the situation sucks for the Ole Miss players that created this opportunity for Lane are drowned out by the “You’re all scared” and “Lane is a sure thing” posts that flood every rational take.

At some point, you just give up expecting any kind of intelligent response.

OM did pony up to match the salary offer. What was OM supposed to do? Flatten the Vaught for a larger stadium? Promise Knox illegal high school NIL benefits under the table?

There are only so many variables of the decision that were under OM control, and some of those were not quick fixes.

Not a hater, but I would have let him coach the playoffs.
