Borderline contender. Definitely not pretender, you can always win with the kind of defense we have.
It's close though. Special teams have been average compared to last year, and the offense has serious issues.

LSU will win the rest of their games! Saturday night in Death Valley will be rocking for the Gumps! Also, who have the Gumps beaten this year? Thats a good question? Answer = No ranked teams! Overrated big slow Big 10 Michigan team is the best win

This is a legit question, I don't know what to think about LSU this year.
Their D makes them a contender but their O puts them in jeopardy. It just seems like they don't know what they want to do offensively. I've never seen so many blocked passes either. I'm certainly not an LSU fan but watching them play on O frustrates me (even though I chuckle a little too).

Contender, no question. If they had a quarterback worth a damn, they'd be very scary. I still think Alabama pulls it out, but LSU has a hell of a team.

The problem is the offense. MSU is better at offense, and slightly worse on defense. Alabama is going to beat the tar out of them. Ole Miss is surprisingly decent at defense, and much better than LSU on offense.
LSU has a great defense, but the offense is just bad. 5 turnovers at A&M and only 24 points. A&M's defense gave up 50+ to LA Tech the weekend before.

Because when a team has lost 2 games in the last 2 years to the current #1 and #2 ranked teams....and has beat these same 2 teams 3 times in that same time frame...you are a CONTENDER!
