So I get Lesticles and I still get to hate Alabama? I accept

I've not followed the mess in N.Carolina, but has he been "cleared" in all the ongoing revelations in the football program? I seem to recall that the NCAA is still investigating the program & if additional violations were to come up, it is possible he mite be linked to them? And then he could have the "show cause" chain hung around his neck, preventing most schools from hiring him. And aside from that, what exactly has he done beyond 1-2 yrs at UM to make him a great coach?

UNC and the NCAA have both cleared him and said he had nothing to do with it. His cell phone records that were released recently and were clean were his last hurdle. He has recently started doing the media tour to build up his reputation again.

I could see UNC sacrificing football for the basketball program so it may be to soon to say Butch has been cleared

The reason he's a good fit for AR, evaluates talent like very few can, and has a TON of players that were stars in the NFL that he recruited to Miami. A lot of those guys were under the radar players as well. That's the type of athlete that AR has to bring in and develop due to their location. From a recruiting and defensive standpoint, it would be a great hire. However, does he still have the drive that he had 12 years ago? That's the question.

Great choice. Would hire again.

you think it's funny now, but you should have been around when Nick Lou left...BD was all the rage for the tards on the rant.
Davis and Blake would have wreaked havoc at LSU...a minimum of 5 years worth.

Go straight to probation. Do not pass Go or collect 180K...

That's a good summation. I would view him as a bridge hire. He probably only has 5-7 more years of coaching in him. His specialty is recruiting and I think he could greatly elevate the talent level while he was here before turning it over to someone else with a nice roster to work with going forward.

No doubt Davis is a solid coach, but man at the baggage! Say what you want about him being cleared. Whatever. He's got the Miami stain on him and I still find it interesting that his nanny was the one who was tutoring players and helping them cheat the system. Between that and Blake's doings, no way BD wasn't in the know... even if it can't be proven.
Honestly, with the job he's doing at TT right now, I think Tuberville wouldn't be a bad hire for the Hawgs, and I think he'd walk there naked over burning coals from Lubbock to Fayetteville for the job.

Ar-kansas should go with a proven sec coach, like say Les Miles.

Tubberville is apparently shooting up the supposed list every single week.
The problem with this list is no one actually knows what Jeff Long wants to do. If there is one thing he is really good at it is not letting anything out from his office. No one knew about JLS until right before the press conference to announce it. There was not even the slightest leak that it was a possibility.
As of now, one of the pay per click boards has the guys most likely to land the job as Dykes, Smart, Tubberville, Davis, Doeren, Franklin, Taggart, Jones, Roman and McDaniels in no particular order. Personally, I think that is more them guessing than actually being in the know based on events in the past and how out of the loop our local media has been.

If they hire him, they deserve whatever comes their way. I'll be shocked if it's not Charlie Strong.
Ark is aiming much higher than Strong, not a knock against him. They are also willing to throw the cash to get a major name as well. If it is Butch that means they were turned down by a few guys before, they were really shooting for the stars on this hire.

If I was an Arky fan, I think I'd want Smart over everyone else in your list. I think the guy would be a great hire anywhere in the SEC, honestly.
But if Smart isn't in play, I'd take Tuberville over anyone else. He's proven more than the rest combined. He's won in the SEC at Ole Miss and at Auburn. Now, he's doing it at TT. And he's a native of the state.
After that, Taggart would be my target.
Smart might be a great HC one day, but who knows? I would rather have a proven HC.
Franklin wouldn't be a bad fallback in the 4th position.
after that, forget it. Time to get a new list.

Jason Garrett - Jerry Jones might be willing to give Hogs the former Cowboy coach

This is not new news imo. However, he's our fall back.
