Because UT is garbage and brings our SOS down.

Lol! I mean c'mon! All these fans of schools in our conference whining about BAMA's schedule and it's their programs that make our schedule look bad!

I'm enjoying the irony.

This is another fallacy of the 9 conference game schedule. Bama would be hurting the SOS further because they add vandy, kentucky, and missouri more often.

Add in that half of the conference is guaranteed another loss... it doesn't help.

The best way to control SOS is to schedule better OOC games.

does this factor in playoffs?

in reality we should look at regular season. JMO

Yeah this looks to be factoring in post regular season games. Nobody doubts teams play good teams in CCG and playoffs of course that will boost anyone up. The real question is looking at the 12 regular season games.

And I'm not picking on bama here, but just syaing this needs to be an apples to apples comparison. Of course a team playing a CCG, plus a playoff game or two will have their SOS significantly changed vs. teams that do not play in those.

SOS goes up when you play an extra conference game because teams are replacing a cupcake OOC game in the process....think about it.

Even Vandy Kentucky is generally going to be better for your SOS than Rice or UTSA.

Bama needs to make a point to schedule upcoming ooc entirely from the list of teams UCF played in 2017

2017 Tennessee would not improve SOS versus a cupcake. Winless in conference is worse than a cupcake.

And as I said... half of the conference would have a guaranteed additional loss. That hurts Alabama with regards to the regular games that they play in the West.

The only way to guarantee a strong SOS is to schedule better OOC. Teams have no say in their conference schedule, anyway. Think about it.

its a fact that Bama has had am easier route to atlanta than any other sec west team

Maybe LSU and Auburn recently because UGA and UF have been better than UT, but Ole Miss, Miss State, Arkansas and A&M don't have an easier path

I call bull shite on those rankings. They have Georgia as having the 3rd hardest schedule for this season. Have you seen their joke of a schedule?

They are adjusted as the season goes on.

Season openers and other P5 non-conf in the regular season under CNS. I'd like to see how most other teams stack up against this list, especially the openers:

2007 - FSU (#19)
2008 - Clemson (#9) - season opener
2009 - Va Tech (#7) - season opener
2010 - Penn State
2011 - Penn State
2012 - Michigan (#8) - season opener
2013 - Va Tech - season opener
2014 - West Va - season opener
2015 - Wisconsin (#18) - season opener
2016 - Southern Cal (#20) - season opener
2017 - FSU (#3) - season opener
2018 - Louisville - season opener

I thought we finally got Bama fans past where teams were ranked when they played them to where they finished and now they want to use preseason rankings.

I can't believe FSU got left out of the playoff last year being they were #3 and all.

We broke their QB and they had to play a TR FR the rest of the year, otherwise they would have won a lot more games.

If they’re winning those games then what difference does it make. It’s not like Bama is beating nothing teams and claiming championships. Besides that not one out of conference loss has cost any sec team a championship. It has been and always will be who you beat in conference.

Bama’s regular season schedule sucked last year. Their best win was MSU.
