Losing a highly rated player is never a "good" thing. But losing a TE in April is about as minor a "bad" thing as something like this could be for a school like UGA.
UGA will still end up with at least one 4-star TE in this class. Instead of Thomas at 33 overall maybe it ends up being Fox or Matthews at 223 or 236 overall (both from GA).
I actually REALLY like Matthews. At 6'7", 259 he's got the size that Darnell Washington had. I'd like to have that back in the program, assuming he can catch the ball reasonably well.

This kid would likely be at number 4 or lower on the TE depth chart even after Bowers leaves.
Delp, Luckie and Spurlin are all high end Tight Ends.

Spurlin is currently number 88 and was the #2 TE out of Florida.
He is 6'7" and weighs about 245.
Bowers, Delp, Luckie and Spurlin currently comprise the best TE group in the country.

I literally cannot name one TE at FSU that was featured in college or the league. Even Florida and Miami have had more features TE’s I can name without Googling.
