October 7th was not a date that many Gator fans would care to remember. LSU came into the Swamp and walked away with a 17-16 win. Eddy missed an extra point in the game which helped LSU win the game. To the most knowledgeable Gator fans, they know that it was the holder's miscue that caused the missed conversion even though Eddy has always taken public responsibility for the gaffed extra point. Obviously, not feeling very good about what happened, Eddy stayed in his apartment with his family that night just watching games on the television.

Later that night at around 2:30 in the morning, Eddy woke up to the sounds of a woman's screams outside his apartment. He looked out the window to see a rather large man slapping a woman.
Eddy yelled out for him to stop. When the man started to punch her that is when Eddy yelled out again yelling " Oh my God" and then proceeded to start running out of his apartment and down the three flights of stairs. Barefoot and only wearing a pair of shorts, Eddy stated to sprint towards the man who by now was on top of the woman choking her.
At the same time, a car full of women pulled into the parking lot to witness the man assaulting the woman.

Eddy by now had closed the distance to knock the man 5 feet off the woman. Eddy then picked the woman off the floor and yelled to the car full of women to take her and all of them to leave immediately. They complied while calling the cops at the same time.

By then the man had come to his senses and reached for something in his possession. Eddy took a step forward toward the man and kicked the object out of his hands. What was thought to be a gun was actually a phone which absolutely explode into something like a dozen pieces!

By now the sounds of the police cars were near and the man tried to get up and leave but Eddy knocked him to the ground again and held him down until the police arrived. The police knew who Eddy was immediately and asked him what happened. Eddy told them and they arrested the man.

The man had his day in court where Eddy was summoned to testify on behalf of the woman. The lawyer for the accused asked Eddy if he punched his client. Eddy responded that he pushed him. He then proceeded to ask Eddy three more consecutive times if Eddy had punched his client. Finally the judge stood up and admonished the lawyer for badgering Eddy.
The accused apparently had some prior convictions and was sentenced to 9 years in jail.
When Eddy gets back to Gainesville after the holiday break, he is slated to receive an accommodation for helping and possibly saving the life of the woman.

I guess things happen for a reason. If he had gone to Alabama, that woman might not be alive today. Well done, Eddy!

Sucks that in this context something like this matters when we all know that man could have used a well-deserved punch.

He's been a reliable kicker for you, and, apparently a great guy, to match!

Was anybody else reading this waiting on some punch line?

Cool story though. Good for him. He declared for the draft, didn't he?

It was a good weekend for young Eddy, all things considered. I hope he realizes that . Big ups.

Another symbol of failure from McElwain to have a kicker like that and not get a few 60+ FG's during his time.

Tl; dr. But I gather something about him saving someone’s life. So that’s wonderful.

Also, STTDB.

The man is lucky that Eddy did not kick him between the legs...he would’ve received a Bruce Jenner type change free of charge
