A special thanks to all of the Gumps and Aggys for taking a quick break from loving on each other so that they could watch LSU

Gonna cost CBS a mountain of cash and a donated kidney to buy the rights from ESPN to move the ALA vs LSU game at night.

Atlanta market has more non-UGA people than UGA people.

As if LSU was struggling in recruiting.... this type of thing will only boost it even more.

If they want it at night. CBS could always do it at 2:30 though.

Birmingham watching that much makes me nervous. They are taking notes on how to screw us over the next few weeks.

No, actually, I think this is a good thing. It reinforces why LSU night football is "our tradition" just like other schools have important traditions that I agree, the League needs to protect. This may be unpopular with some of my fellow LSU colleagues but traditional rival games should be protected. That means Iron Bowl, obviously, UGA-Auburn, UF-UGA, and yes Bama-Tenn, Egg Bowl, etc. Those are traditions that need to be kept intact. One of the biggest mistakes the Big 12 made, IMO, was cancelling the Nebraska-OU game. That hurt Nebraska because it allowed them to play OU every year and if they beat them, as they did back then, they could go to Recruits in Texas and compete with OU. Now they are in the Big 10 and I just don't see Nebraska ever coming back, they don't have their traditional rivals and don't have access to the Texas Recruiting footprint like they once did.

So with that said, if the SEC league office is about protecting traditions, then LSU should get priority for Night games as that is our Tradition. LSU first played Night football in 1931. The earliest any other team played a night game was UGA on 20 October 1940. Alabama played its first night game that year but it was in Mobile. I don't think they ever played a night game in Legion field until 1969 vs. Archie Manning's Ole Miss team, first night time game on TV. Florida did not play a home game at Night at Ben-Hill till 1950. TENN did not play one in Neyland until 1972. Auburn in Jordan-Hare, not until 1991.

Given the amount of money the League made from this night game match up of LSU/UF in Tiger Stadium, this is more "evidence" that LSU's night tradition of playing games is important to both LSU (and it is) and the league as well in terms of economics.

So count me in as an LSU fan who believes tradition should be protected by the SEC (i.e. rival games), but that should include "LSU's tradition of Night football in Tiger Stadium."
