I thought it was funny that the ump warned the dugouts about HBPs and the very next pitch hit an LSU batter. The ump did nothing.

This is really surprising. Hard to believe ump let this go even if he knew it wasn't intentional.

The only HBP that was really over the line was when one of LSU's batters got hit in the head by the Friday night guy on a 3-0 count. It looked to us like he hit the guy to preserve his strikeout to walk ratio.

I agree with this (other than the fact Berry was hit in the shoulder not the head). It was clearly intentional by Barco and was up at the head, which is where it crossed the line. That becomes dangerous at that point. Maybe just a coincidence, but from that point on LSU kicked the shite out of Florida.

Ah, I thought it was the head.

I am curious how we get hit so much more than others, but that has to be part of the explanation. I never noticed them crowding the plate but that must be the case. Not ALL of the HBPs this weekend were intentional

Yeah you guys do have some baws who dig in and claim their space, for sure. LSU came in to Sundays game swinging often and early. I thought y'all were crazy with our pitchers struggling to find the strike zone, but you guys decided you were hitting and chased some bad balls. Eventually we were stupid enough to throw it close to the plate. Y'all hit a bunch of pitches that were not strikes.

It was Barco's toughest outing of the season. He was not in command of his pitches at all on Friday. He got lucky on several occasions with mistakes that we were fortunate LSU didn't make him pay for.

It really was amazing. I don’t know if they did it on purpose, but if it wasn’t on purpose Florida desperately needs pitchers who can throw a baseball over the plate.

An interesting stat (and one that makes you think a little): 8 hit batters, but no walks. Pitchers having trouble with control would lead you to believe there would have been at least a couple of walks.

True. They knew exactly where they were throwing the ball

You guys really don't have a fricking clue what you are talking about. LSU went up to the plate as aggressive as I have ever seen. Our pitchers were all over the place, but you guys only got to one full count all day and only twice did one of your hitters get a count with 3 balls.

Look at the counts of each LSU hitter. These pitchers on Sunday were all pretty young and trying to earn some playing time.

I only took issue with two HBP’s over the weekend. The Barco against Berry HBP was dirty, period. I also find it hard not to think it was intentional when Dugas got hit the first pitch after Jobert hit a home run and there was significant back and forth between the benches (to the extent both teams were warned by the umps).

Not saying there were zero intentional, at all. I just don't think most were. Hitting a batter with a breaking ball isn't sending a message. Barco OTOH probably did hit him on purpose. It was gamesmanship. Hunter wants to pitch, Berry was slowing everything down and taking his time trying to bother him and it worked.
