You somehow got rid of your guy without paying him a dime. If you take Oat from us, frick you, but I get it.
Arky, it seems like you guys watched A&M and Jimbo and said; maybe we can replicate that with basketball. I don’t get this move.

I think Oates would be more interested in the NBA than another University

Going from coaching high school to the NBA in 11 years would be insane.

I like having a good UK. Hope y’all get a great hire not named Nate. Good luck with it.

Pretty normal for genius. The greatest soccer manager of all time was a shoe salesman.

I am surprised Cal chose to go to a conference rival. Wonder how that’ll impact his legacy with Kentucky, can’t imagine him being welcomed back kindly next year in Rupp.

He wasn't going to be welcomed back kindly in Rupp next year if he stayed at UK.

Well, the Rant was going to shite all over who we hired so it doesn't really matter.

Almost our entire roster either ran out of eligibility or hit the portal. Cal can still recruit. The HS basketball talent in Arkansas is always pretty good and is supposed to be nasty over the next 4 years.

I would take this hire over about 90% of the names that have been lobbed out there.

With Cal's Memphis ties, what's the Memphis prep scene looking like?

I guess I mean more so for his legacy once he retires. Taking notes from Pitino

To be clear, it wasn’t meant as a shot. I guess I see the plus side with putting together a roster, but the results have been pretty subpar on the court recently. It’s just a big contract for a hope that Cal can reinvent himself at this stage of his career. Maybe he will win ata a crazy rate, but his warts are pretty obvious at this point. Thought y’all might go Young and upcoming.

The Jimbo comparison is stupid. He had the best QB in the nation in a shitty conference and lucked into a ship against a slightly above average AU team because you shite your pants on the kick six.

Cal has built multiple programs and UK had been average for a decade before he got there.

Gratz on your FF. Enjoy your fall back to mediocrity.

I’m not. Vandy was probably too down for him to consider (he has a retirement home in Nashville). Arkansas is committed enough to basketball to let him do what he wants to do.

And that’s fine. Wish him the best. Glad he didn’t try to force us to pay the buyout.

When Arkansas was at its best, we used to recruit the hell out of Memphis. Those guys were tough.

Someone is slaty that everyone doesn’t think this was a great hire. UK fans are happy to cngratylate you on stealing their coach. Let that sink in.

Thinking its a bad hire is fine.

Jimbo is a retarded comparison. Especially coming from a Bama fan whose all time frick up of allowing a 107 yd KO return is the sole reason he has the title that you are using for comparison.

Pre-Muss, Arkansas had spent 30 years in total mediocrity. Muss brought us back to relevance with 3 Sweet 16's and 2 Elite 8's. That being said, we still aren't back to that level so this is a big hire for us.

It looked like we went for Beard and whiffed. Then guys like Tang floated their names and got raises. PR was getting worse. This turns all that around.

Now, we're hoping this leads to a motivated Cal and some deep runs and not the 1st round and out Kentucky had this year.

And, although I'm going to miss Muss, I doubt we see Cal running around the court shirtless after a game.

Me too. Was not expecting this. Honestly, most of us thought our AD fricked up handling the situation with Muss and then whiffing on Beard.

I see the pros and cons, but I feel like we ultimately came out better with Cal than some of the other names being mentioned.
