Kennedy defenders want to talk about his winning percentage while at OM without taking into account the strength of those teams we beat. They don't want to look at the fact that he has a sub .500 record in conference play or that we never go to an NCAA tourney and have never even done all that well in the SEC or NIT tournaments.
Things have to change. Can't keep accepting mediocrity just because you are scared that what we will get next will be worse. Trying to be better and failing is more acceptable than doing nothing.

His teams don't play defense and have no discipline. It's atrocious to watch.
Missing the tourney this year may be better for OM long term.

I agree. Also wish our team would turn down any invitation to the NIT on principal

Dear Ross Bjork,
13 teams have been to the NCAA Tournament since we have.
The NCAAs actually have 64 teams play every year, so that's actually pretty darn good!

68 actually
Also AK is a good coach, you OM fans expect WAY too much from him. Just remember before him Rod Barnes has 4 straight losing seasons before he was fired. Fire AK and be ready to set your program back 2-3 years.

So we should just accept being mediocre in a terrible conference? I don't think so. I know Kennedy doesn't have the talent that a lot of schools in the country have but anybody can look at our games and tell that the majority of our problems come from a lack of offensive and defensive identity. That is on the coaching staff

Exactly and look what firing Stans got us ..... 7-18

Can't compare our situation with Kennedy to yours with Stansbury. Stans won SEC championships and went to the tournament several times. Kennedy has been here 7 years and hasn't done anything

Our problem was discipline and defense and we have both now, but instead of being mediocre we are terrible. Nothing good about losing 11 in a row.

Okay well let's say you fire Kennedy. Who do you get?
Chances are it is not the Shaka Smart, Bruce Pearl, or other home run hire that many fan bases think would love to come coach at their university.

Lots of our fans thought we could hire a "Name" coach and after being turned down by multiple guys we hired an unknown assistant from Clemson.

quote:Stan was literally the most unluckiest coach in all of basketball last year IMO. Yes he made some terrible decisions in games, but a couple of turnovers and one or two missed shots in certain games is what ultimately got him canned. A few things swing differently in some of those games and he is still coaching at State right now .

That being said, I feel for Rick Ray honestly. If he strings together some solid recruiting classes, Mississippi State could be dangerous in a few years. He has a great coaching philosophy

We could probably get Michael White at LATech. He's 23-3 and undefeated in WAC and played at OM and was an assistant for several years here. Not a huge name but could be that "out of nowhere" hire that turns out well. Idk
Regardless that's not the point. We cannot accept being mediocre just because we are scared of being worse with somebody else

Not likely happening, I've heard he's not big on AAU guys and doesn't look at star rankings. His class for next year is 3 mid 3 stars
