Everything...minus any regional/national chains. Austin has become a food city so shitty restaurants don't survive long in ATX.

Can you drink the water is Tuscaloosa yet?

“Nearly 42 million gallons of sewage have spilled into Tuscaloosa's streets, backyards, and streams since 2018. The city's own reports show more than 350 illegal raw sewage overflows and more than 1,000 wastewater discharge permit violations in the past five years.”

Madison, Wisconsin. The campus of Univ of Wisconsin is right beside Lake Mendota. Really nice town and campus.

Surround by four lakes: Lake Mendota, Lake Monona, Lake Waubesa, and Lake Kegonsa. The most popular cafeteria is “ Four Lakes Cafe”

Fayetteville is the best on the planet.

But ain't no shame in second place, Athens.

Tuscaloosa is an adequate third.

Lawrence KS and Manhattan KS aren't bad. Cool restaurants and bars.

Ames and Iowa City were sneaky nice. Liked them more than I expected.

What I saw of Norman was decent.

Oxford is underwhelming. Baton Rouge, Austin and Nashville don't feel like college towns at all.

Columbia MO is not good. Not good at all. Didn't particularly care for Knoxville either.

because they aren't. Just like New York isn't a "college town" simply by virtue of it having a college there.

that seems like your arkansas bias coming through. I was very impressed wiht columbia and actually thought it reminded me of a much smaller scale version of athens.

Nah. It's just based on the few experiences I've had over there. I've got lots of Missouri alums in my neighborhood. Part of what happened was they over-sold the town. Shakespear's pizza is mid. There was a burger/beer joint they told us to go to which was just average. Living in KC, I never stayed the night there, so I don't have a reference for their nightlife. But, facilities, game day feel, cool restaurants/areas - I have just seen MUCH better.

Columbia and Athens are almost identical in the size of the city and the metro. Within a couple of thousand of each other on both counts.
