Tom Glavine was the first scenario his entire career. At his best, Glavine was a mid-80's fastball guy. But he changed speeds enough and threw so much breaking stuff, that when he did throw his fastball, he could get it by you.

Not these days. Hitters are stronger and better too. They will sit all day on changes and adjust as needed to mid-80s stuff. I do agree, though, that crafty pitching largely beats power pitching.

Only time I was measure was outside an LSU football game in college at some fan thing. I had been drinking all day, and it wasn't a radar gun, it was one of those balls that measures itself somehow. Buddy and I both made ourselves really sore the next day trying to get to 80, and maybe got there once.

Baseball talk is Gospel.. don’t bring the aggy into the equation. Baseball purists are a dying breed. Pour the 40’s gents.

There are LOT of liars in this thread, I pitched in college and couldn’t touch 90 along with 99% of the people in this country. I am not sure if some of you understand that those mph readings are from 60’6”, not with a running start throwing it 30’. A 90 mph fastball looks and sounds much different than most of you will ever get to see firsthand. You can hear it coming. Not to mention, you have to be able to throw it consistently with movement for 60-70 pitches per game. I don’t think most of you realize how difficult that is and it can’t be taught. You were either born with it or you weren’t.

If we are going to do it, now is the time.. this board needs action.

And we had multiples in options from 70-80 mph as well.

Title says “throw a baseball” which would mean from any position.

If someone was able to find a cage that had a pitching machine throwing 90, I'm positive most people would be afraid to stand in the batters box.

I think this is true.
