^ As much as I hate to admit, I was thinking that too.

Defensively, they've got talent, but who knows what's on offense that would justify a top 20 ranking as of right now

USC is a talented team but I wouldn't have them ranked in the Top 3 because they do have depth issues after the first string due to probation.

And as far as Auburn goes, I think BhamDore does have a point. Alabama was a young team in 2008 with only 9 seniors on scholarship - the second least in the NCAA that year. Rolando McClain, the leader of the defense, was a true sophomore. Most of the defense was made up of underclassmen. A lot of our most talented players were true freshmen who had just come into the program via that now legendary recruiting class of 2008. Be that as it may, however, we still managed to win 12 football games that year. That team could have won the national championship had it not played the best team Florida has ever fielded in the SEC Championship.

The "we are young" excuse can only get you so far. You've had three straight solid recruiting classes according to Rivals and ESPN and Scout so there is talent on that team. The only question remains with the coaching staff. Are they competent enough to develop that talent? 2011 says no. We'll see if they can turn it around in 2012.

How much would you like to bet? I feel so bad for the LSU fans of the SEC Rant when the Rantards choose to visit/infest.

I like the hires, don't get me wrong. Especially on the defensive side. But it still takes time to implement. Not sure Van Gorder can do it overnight. Experience will certainly help. And getting some teams at home will help as well.

Do you think Mett will be a better QB than Jefferson/Lee this year?

If so, why?

I love the post-historical revisionism of Cam Newton... funny stuff.

https://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/12621/ranking-the-secs-quarterbacks

quote:

1. Ryan Mallett, Arkansas
2. Greg McElroy, Alabama
3. Jeremiah Masoli, Ole Miss
4. John Brantley, Florida
5. Stephen Garcia, South Carolina
6. Jordan Jefferson, LSU

7. Cameron Newton, Auburn
8. Aaron Murray, Georgia
9. Mike Hartline, Kentucky
10. Chris Relf, Mississippi State
11. Matt Simms, Tennessee
12. Larry Smith, Vanderbilt

Yes, Cam was thought of SO HIGHLY prior to the 2010 season that he was ranked behind freakin' Jeremiah Masoli, John Brantley, Stephen Garcia, and Jordan Jefferson.

And this opinion wasn't an outlier either... it was a commonly held opinion.

Never go full retard...

Why do Auburn fans think they have all this talent?

What a retarded question.

quote:

Talented teams don't get their shite pushed in by 4 tds multiple times in one season

1) Auburn played more freshmen than any other team in the country
2) Mainly our best players on defense were 1st year starters with limited experience
3) Ted Roof sucked arse as a defensive coordinator
4) The players with most experience on our team, the upperclassmen, were some of the worst players

In turn, we return everyone outside of Neiko Thorpe. Also, Gabe Wright will take Ken Carter's place, Kris Frost will take Jonathan Evans' place, Robenson Therezie will take T'Sharvan Bell's place, and Jermaine Whitehead will play a ton more at both safety and nickel back.

quote:

Ted roof was a failure because he didn't have much to work with.

Is that why he's never, ever coached a defense to be in the top 50?

quote:

The young excuse is old now

This year, yes.

quote:

Auburns has not had a lot if kids that have done that.

Man, I seriously hope you didn't graduate from Vandy.

quote:

In 08 Bama only had 9Srs. and all the talented players were Fr and Sophs. they win 12 games

Sucking Alabama's dick again, I see. You can stop claiming to be a Vandy fan now.

quote:

Most of LSU best players were Sophs last yr and freshman the yr before when they won 11 games.

Do you not see the difference with LSU, Alabama, and Auburn? LSU and Alabama had great defensive coaching. We had shite.

quote:

Auburn does not have close to the talent or depth regardless of where rivals ranked those classes.

I really do hope you're just trolling.

Methinks that the SEC will be represented in the MNC game again

Because of yalls schedule, maybe if GA goes undefeated during the season but loses to LSU in the seccg, your coach can go around waiving his arms around in circles and convince the voters that even though yall didnt win the conference they should be voted #2 over other teams that were able to win their conference......
