He was so great at picking out coaches for Detroit, that's for sure.

Butch's worst loss last year was only by 7.

He's a beast on 1 possession games. 4th quarter comeback by Butch Jones:

-2007 at Western Michigan: down 31-27 with 1:34 to play, won 34-31
-2007 at Akron: down 32-20 with 8:08 to play, won 35-32
-2008 vs Buffalo: down 18-17 with 14:26 to play, won 27-25
-2008 at Toledo: down 23-17 at start of 4th, won 24-23
-2008 at Indiana: down 34-28 at start of 4th, won 37-34
-2009 at Michigan State: down 27-20 with 7:33 to play, won 29-27
-2009 vs Troy: down 31-19 with 8:01 to play, won 44-41 in 2OT
-2011 at South Florida: down 34-30 with 1:27 to play, won 37-34
-2011 vs Vanderbilt: down 21-17 with 14:03 to play, won 31-24
-2012 vs Virginia Tech: down 24-20 with 1:49 to play, won 27-24
-2012 vs Duke: down 31-27 with 12:45 to play, won 48-34

Derek Dooley is 0-25 when trailing at half time.

Agree with the top 3 although I'd have them:

1. Saban
1A. Ballsack
2. Patterson

Does he really not have Meyer and Shaw on that list?!?!

I think Saban's strength is in planning, not in-game adjustments. But when you win 3 out of 4, they crown your arse.

The only hire I can think of that may have been worse is when they thought Rush Limbaugh would be a good sports commentator.

Agreed with your post mostly, except for the "may have been" part. Limbaugh was obviously a dumb move from the start. What does that fat bastard know about sports? They hired him for entertainment, forgetting he was entertaining because his schtick is pissing so many people off. I'm no fan of Matt Millen, but this isn't a close call for me.

Patterson isn't getting enough respect from the SECR. He has done a lot with not much. Saban is obviously #1, but Patterson deserves to be in the conversation. Probably after Peterson and possibly Briles.

No mention of Kevin Damn Sumlin and that's fine. He's a newbie. He'll be there before long.

Relative to where he was coaching at the time it isn't bad. I guess that would make too much sense though.

I am not endorsing him as some awesome coach, but he seems to do well wherever he goes.

That would be news to me, and I have a hard time picturing it. If correct I see Limbaugh criticizing some college or KC/STL player for being for gun control or fathering too many babies or being soft on immigration, or here's the kicker: being addicted to some drug. Which would be priceless. I think of myself as conservative, always have. Rush Limbaugh makes conservatives look like idiots by association.

Sorry for the rant, but that fat bastard has somehow successfully taken over what it means to be conservative, and it chaps my arse (or in SECR terms, rustles my jimmies).

Agree for the most part. The 2001 SEC title game may be an exception, but I guess all he and Jimbo really did was QB sneak every time on third down.

Dooley is not good at anything and should not be the standard for comparison for anything, unless the comparison is for 'worst ever' or something to that effect.

It looks like he wins just fine without them
