If the UT-Kiffin connection actually exists, could the NCAA punish Kiffin himself, even though he is now at another program? That'd be awesome It'd be cool to see USC get slapped again too

Call me an AU homer all you want. Cam has done some stupid things, Just sounds too convient for somebody to say Cam called MSU and said 'the money was too much'

No way there are no tapes of this that was sent back in January.

The same dumarse logic was used with Reggie Bush denying everything. The funny thing is he gave back the "Heisman Trophy" yet he still denied all wrong doing. Why would he give back the Heisman if he did nothing wrong?

Interesting that a guy on TCU posted this 9 hours before Schad "broke" the story

quote:

Just called and got details. Bill in Destin, Florida is MissSt donor and has phone recording of Cam Newtons dad saying Auburn agreed to pay $200k but he would go to Miss for only $180. Very detailed conversation about method of payment and 3 installments of $60, first before signing and second on signing. Said he gave tape to NCAA last week after story started breaking. Already had death threats from Auburn fans

and in florida you have to have the consent of both parties to record a phone call, so the msu booster involved has broken wiretap laws.

because his public image is worth a lot more than the heisman trophy is. The faster it was out of the media the better

1. What makes you think the phone call took place in Florida? Mississippi State isn't there, Newton wasn't there.

2. What makes you think the booster recorded it?

The MSU recruiter likely thought that law didn't apply when having a face call with Cam on his stolen laptop

It doesnt matter where the recording took place, the NCAA isnt a court of law. The NCAA will still be able to punish Auburn and Newton however they want.

I sure as hell never remembering the FBI involved in anything before

The FBI getting involved was what really screwed us in the Means case.

At this point IMO its just a matter of seeing how this plays out with the rest of the season, if they keep playing Cam, if Auburn keeps winning, if they make it to the SEC championship, BCS, etc. Because long-term it seems pretty clear that Auburn's fricked.

They are screwed no matter what.

Sit Cam now, they dont get to the NC game.

Play Cam, and they might win the NC, only to be forced to vacate after the investigation is complete.

Seems like the sooner the better in this case. They are gonna be hard pressed not to do anything with the implications meaning so much

Lee,

It would be a travesty for an SEC team to go undefeated twice in a decade and not play for the championship either time.

I was here in 04, and I'm here now. Ugh.

What's worse is when I don't live in Auburn, the team seems to suck. 98 and 03 not counting.

We can't catch a fricking break.
