I've seen words like "hilarious" and "funny" thrown out there in this thread in regards to this commercial. I don't really see the comedy in it.
It's not a bad commercial, just kind of hard to sit through due to the awkward cheese of it all.
To each his own tho, carry on

This.
It isn't hilarious. I'd say that it's just good.
The Ackbar one was fricking hilarious IMHO.

yeah....We never said that. This thread was about people saying they found it funny. We plainly stated that we found it just less than humorous.

For those of us who know how we are with it, it is funny to show the absurd reaches that it can be taken to. For those outsiders looking in, it can be a bit strange.

But really, except for the somewhat (but in practice not really) absurd limits that this commercial goes to with regard to situations, how is it that much different from the University of Florida promo commercial that they did a couple of years ago with everyone saying "Go Gators" to each other as they passed on campus?

And we'll throw a Hotty Toddy around from time to time.

Back in the early 90s, I was in a small Georgia town and I didn't have the cash on hand or a credit card to pay a local mechanic for needed car repairs. All I had was a personal check and he wouldn't accept one from out of state. All negotiations had failed until I asked, "Well, how 'bout dem Dawgs?".
He had me back on the road within a couple of hours.

Could "roll tide" be used as currency as well?

I like it!
If you are a Tide or Barn fan in this state you hear the phrase "War Eagle" or "Roll Tide" many, many times a year not as much as the commercial states but a lot.

If you live in Alabama you realize how much of a hick commercial it is...and it isn't funny.
Not as classy as "WHAR EEGAL...BAIL HAY"

I think they're both pretty cool.
Much better than the lame "GO ______!" that most schools regurgitate.

However, I laugh at the barners who produced their own nearly identical commercial two years ago, and now suddenly see the absurdity in it when ESPN does it for another school.
This. I liked the commercial, particularly the best man speech part.
