Tennessee and Penn State should be over Miami and Florida St, imo.

eta- I also think Bama should be over USC, and possibly Nebraska.

eta,eta- They started it with 1936, not overall. Bogus shite list to begin with then.

I'm ok with that. 12 - 15 will battle it out and the Gumps will lose to one of them....putting the victor on top (LSU)

Just cuz it doesn't go your way...

Why start with the 1936 season?
The AP poll was introduced that season, making it the first time the longest-standing news organization in the United States began ranking teams and crowning a national champion. Starting in 1937, the NCAA began recognizing "major college programs" (now known as the FBS). To accrue points, a program had to be recognized as one of these major programs by the NCAA. Those years are listed on pages 426 and 427 of this year's NCAA Football Record Book.

No, that's THE one that stood out to me- Tennessee definitely needs to be higher.

Can anyone tell me the number of NC's and Heisman's OU has. I'm just really surprised they made it over USC, Notre Dame, and Alabama. They are without a doubt top 5.

They should include heads up with what they consider "major college programs" before 1936 then. Bama kicked USC's arse in the Rose Bowl, which was the standard before that time frame.

First, I take any list that has Michigan at number 8 with a grain of salt.

Second, hmm what happened? Arkansas ranked ahead of Auburn? But weren't we told the other day that Arkansas isn't even a pimple on Auburn's arse?

yep.

Not sure I would rate Nebraska that high and Michigan that low. Penn State and Tenn should be higher.

Exactly. I would put Michigan over Bama in place of Nebraska. Move Bama up a spot and drop USC right below. And no way does Miami or Fla St make top 15 much less top 10. There are way more historically significant programs than theirs since 1936.
