Not really a fair comparison, as that guy got the whole playbook with the starting lineup. Young got mop up duty in the 4th quarter behind the 2nd and 3rd string OL.

Yeah that’s not fair. Outside of those two games, that guy is 19/32 with 1 TD and 0 INTs. Obviously he’s much better then that but it’s also proof you can’t take away much from mop up duty performances. Especially with this shortened season.

He had a couple of fumbles. Yeah he had a few great throws this year. Any Qb no matter how bad they are had a few good throws this year. The guy at Tennessee threw a few nice passes against Bama this year. Doesn’t mean that he was a good QB though. Same for Young. Young was not impressive this year. He needed a redshirt year bad. The Freshman that filled in at Clemson this year is way ahead of Young. If Mac goes pro the QB job at Bama is wide open next year.

Complete bullshite. He has the job locked up.

He was very impressive to me. Came in without a normal spring and summer, missed 2 weeks during fall camp with COVID, and still beat out Tyson for the #2 job.

He had two fumbles. One was his fault, the other should have been ruled an incompletion.

Young would put up huge numbers if he had started a few games like DJ did.

This season didn’t count against eligibility.

It was effectively a redshirt year.

Absolute truth. There are a LOT of Bama fans that didn't like seeing Young just turn around and give it to a RB. Plenty wanted to see not only Young run the whole offense but also wanted the young receivers get some opportunities in the passing game.

I do think Young will be the starting qb and I think he will play well, but I won't be surprised if Saban brings in a transfer qb for depth while the freshman out of Texas learns. After all, it will be the best year ever for transfers.

That's such bullshite. Bama would probably have same record without him.
The offense put up 45 points against Arkansas while he had zero scores and only 150 yards.

Ride for your players but you have 2 others to ride over this guy.

You think we would have the same record without our starting qb? We would've lost to Ole Miss and UF, for sure without Mac. Assuming we even made it to Atlanta. The drop off from our number 1 to number 2 is huge this year.

ARMY in 1946 had 3 finish in the Top 5. Bama just became the second program to do it.

Najee is gonna be fine. He’ll be a 1st team All American, Doak Walker Award winner and 1st round draft pick.

The center when he was in had some major miscommunication issues with him for some reason.

Made him look worse than he was.

You cannot judge a backup QB coming in for mop up duty and throwing a pass every blue moon behind the backup O line. Funny thing is the games I saw him come in, it’s literally like the line didn’t even block at all. Multiple blocking bust assignments on the play led to some quick sacks

He will be fine next year when the coaches give him the playbook and actually gets a full offseason to work with the coaches.

Ole Miss’s defense is terrible. Even Max Johnson dropped 50 on them and I think BY is better.

I figure Lawrence would be the beneficiary of Mac and Smitty splitting the vote. The media loves him.

That’s not really how it works, though, thankfully. It’s essentially a tiered point system. Smith and Mac will split first place votes, but they’ll also split 2nd place votes. Lawrence will finish a distant 3rd, or even 4th, IMO.

Still a Top 5 finish, which is remarkable. Bama finishes with 3 of the Top 5. I’m not sure that’s ever happened before.

Neither has a season like 2020... hence why there will be an *

If the season doesn't count to eligibility does it even count at all?

OSU in the playoffs with 5 games. All you need to see.
