For those of us old enough to remember the early days of ESPN. They didn't have the rights to a lot of major sports back then so we got a daily dose of:

Arm Wrestling
Frisbee Games
Skeetshooting
Celebrity Fishing
Random soccer matches between two schools you've never heard of.

Bring back the strong man competitions. That shite was worth watching regardless. Should be a regular feature.

I, personally, am hoping ESPN revives reruns of the old American Sports Cavalcade and World’s Strongest Man competitions. WWF could allow them to show WCCW from the Dallas Sportatorium also. I’d watch Ice Man King Parsons fight Colonel Skandar Akbar and Kamala, follow it up with some swamp buggy racing from the Florida Sportsman’s Park in Naples, Florida. Then cap the night off with Lou Ferigno vs Bill Kazmeier for the strongest man competition.

That’s a name from the past. He lived in Auburn while I was a student. Saw him driving a car that he barely fit into.

Mountain of a human. Should see some of his performances from the early 80’s on those old strongest men programs.

This even being a thing is enough to make people fearful for the future.

Funny you mention this, because when people go off on ESPN about being terrible and what not, the entire time I'm thinking - you have no idea what they have done for sports.

Maybe if they listened to the majority of games on the radio and only got to see their team play in bigger games on TV, they'd have a different opinion. Or what sucks even more when your team isn't having a great year, is you only get to see them when they are playing a really good team, so they get their arse whipped.

Thanks to ESPN people get to watch every game on TV. And they don't have to pay for shite like Jefferson Pilot anymore either.

You’re spot on about how ESPN has change the nature of sports on TV.

. People go off on ESPN not because of the sporting events, but because they feel the need to fill every moment that isn’t sports with commentary. Much of it awful quasi political commentary.

I’d rather watch old NFL films than people yelling at each other.
