If that's your "logic", then Nazism was also founded on Christian principles.

Right. And all those applauding ESPN would be open to ads from other religions or atheists, I'm sure.

Yes it was. But that's not the genesis of this discussion. Try to stay on topic.

That is how a booze hiding Baptist in South MS pronounces Catholic.

Also, most of the deep south is probably anti-Catholic(I know quite a few who are VERY anti-Catholic), so I find this aspect of it comical.

Times have changed.

Bama is now coached by a Yankee who is a devout unapologetic Catholic.

but it shouldn't offend you if they chose not to air it because of that.
It shouldn't be offensive that ESPN is so ridiculously PC that it refused to air a Catholic Hospital commercial? That level of attempting to be PC is offensive.

There are lots of Jews and Muslims out there, and over the course of the holidays, if you saw an ad about some Muslim thing on ESPN over and over again, I don't think you would like it.
What? Why would a Muslim company advertising something that mentioned Islam offend anyone?

quote:

I have a buddy returning from Afghanistan for the last time, and I'm sure he doesn't want to have to have Islamic religious reminders blasted at him when all he wants to do is watch football...
What about the Muslims that don't want military ads blasted at them during the Army/Navy game? arrrgggghhhhh!

Sure we would ... if it was seasonally related and not offensive. I mean I wouldn't want to see devil worshipers sacrificing virgins or atheists tossing off on the Bible or anything like that, but as long as they kept it respectful and incantation free ... sure, let them spend their money on us ... or are you forgetting that we are a Capitalist nation as well?

Oh right, here it is:
Genesis eleventy-one:

quote:

God separated the heavens and the earth, and drew upon the earth political boundaries, so that the people he would later place could squabble about petty differences and feel superiority over one another and their football teams.

I'm also saying that, from a marketing perspective, you do not piss off the majority in favor of the minority ... a minority which, BTW, is far less likely to subscribe to the SEC network than the majority.

The SEC Network should expect to draw the majority of its subscribers from affluent, dedicated, SEC fans. anti-Jesus people tend to be more leechy, they tend to want to feed off of others ... they don't pay for things like Jesus people do.

You are completely baffling sometimes...

If you want the CBC to broadcast your sporting events then you are going to have to live with the crap product you will receive. Christianity has nothing to do with sports other than a misguided view that some all powerful, all knowing being who has complete control over all things in existence is spending his vast resources to make sure this athlete scores a TD while chastising the opposing players for not being devout enough in their worship...

It's asinine to then castigate a network for making a business decision that flies in the face of your belief structure. They are trying to provide a product for as wide an audience as possible. To do that you try not to exclude anyone by holding one set of people above any other. If you are watching a sports network seeking spiritual fulfillment then you have more problems than I care to think about...
