ESPN College Gameday (basketball)

Auburn hosting tomorrow. Joining only North Carolina and Kansas as the only three programs to host the show on campus four seasons in a row…. Though if Duke hosts between now and the end of the year, they can join the club.
SEC programs who have hosted Gameday by number of appearances as a host:
9- Kentucky
5- Florida
4- Auburn
3- Texas
2- Tennessee, Oklahoma
1- Arkansas, LSU, Vandy, Mizzou, Texas A&M
0- Ole Miss, Miss St, Bama, S Carolina, Georgia

If Alabama ever got to play Auburn at home on a Saturday we might have a shot 
Would think that the Tennessee game on 3/2 would be our best bet to get it for the first time. Biggest competitor would probably be Purdue/Michigan State. Possibly Gonzaga/Saint Mary's as they like to do one of those types of games every year.
Auburn has a great setup for it, though. Coleman isn't exactly a selling point for anything, even though students would fill it up for the show.

Was just thinking that there is a high probability that Bama hosts it in two weeks when Tennessee comes to town.
Games that day:
Tennessee @ Alabama
Kansas @ Baylor
Virginia @ Duke
Would likely be one of those three, but figuring Bama has never hosted, surely they’ll lean that direction (unless that lighting fiasco makes ESPN leery)

I think it's kind of ridiculous that the home and home's aren't on Saturdays. But then again, you know you can still fill an arena on Wed night with the "Iron Bowl of Basketball".

It is ridiculous, and apparently is entirely because it's in the sweet spot where (a) it isn't "big" enough to always get a Saturday spot but (b) IS big enough they know it'll attract viewers on a weeknight. So they continually throw it on Tuesday/Wed night slots because they know it'll draw.
Pearl and Oats are pretty tight at this point and have earned some sway with the league. At some point they need to jointly raise hell about it and force some change. Games between us are important nationally and in the league, but they're also entertaining as hell for somebody just randomly watching a college basketball game.

Auburn gave additional seating to the students instead of selling season tickets (donations). 3/4 of the lower bowl is reserved for students.
The athletic department checks with the ticket outlets to see how many SRO tickets are left to sell then allows that number of additional students in the game. Large portion of SRO places are generally taken by the students who go in 30 min before everyone else.
Scholly’s have their own entrance.

That’s why you see the kids camping out. Especially with Gameday coming.
Kentucky guard play is going to be the difference. Biggger than Auburns guards. Similar to the Florida matchup. Plus Kentucky is back healthy.
Pearl was very complimentary of Kentucky for his pregame interview.
As he stated Kentucky IS the Gold Standard of this league and always will be.

Alabama played Auburn on a Saturday last year.
If I’m not mistaken, the return game is played on the same day of the week for both teams just on different dates.
