ESPN asks, "Murray or Allen?"

Murray or Allen?

quote:

Look, Kyler Murray is fantastic. I've witnessed his greatness firsthand. He's one of the greatest high school quarterbacks I've ever seen, and I saw Texas high school quarterbacks like Andrew Luck and Garrett Gilbert. But even Luck redshirted his freshman season.

If I'm guessing who the starter will be on Sept. 5 when Texas A&M meets Arizona State at NRG Stadium in Houston, it's Kyle Allen.

quote:

Edward Aschoff: I must admit that I do agree with my dapper colleague ... to a point. Yes, I think Allen will be the guy come opening day, but if you're asking me who's going to have the biggest impact for the Aggies this season, I'm jumping on the Murray train -- all 5-foot-11, 178 pounds of it.

I really liked Allen's progression during the second half of the 2014 season, but Murray has a chance to be a very, very special player, very, very early in his career. Oh, his size is an issue? Well, did you ever see Johnny Manziel warming up without pads in college? Yeah, he looked like a kicker, and then broke a ton of records and won the Heisman Trophy. I'm not calling Murray the next Manziel, but the two look awful similar when you turn the video on, and you know Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin is salivating at the thought of having a guy who is a much more polished quarterback prospect coming out of high school than Johnny Football was.

Think about a more composed, purer passer lining up behind center in a Sumlin offense. Think about how fun his improvisation will be when things break down, and how he'll be able to extend plays with those churning legs.

Now pick your jaw up off the ground, it's dirty down there.

The other thing that reminds me of Johnny Football? Murray's competitive attitude. He oozed it all through high school and proved that he isn't afraid of a little college quarterback battle when he turned down a fat MLB paycheck to hit the books and win a starting job. Murray isn't heading to College Station to ride the pine. He didn't give up more money than I'll ever see in my lifetime to watch Allen lead this team all season.

Murray will play a significant role in the Aggies' offense, and will earn the starting job before the halfway point of the season. Despite his lack of college experience, he's just too talented not to snatch this job away from the older Allen.

As for me...I think Allen is the starter all year.

Oh - and I look forward to the "wrong board" bitching that was somehow missing from the Speedy Noil thread.

Dumb question.

Of course the SEC's best QB will be the starter all year, barring injury which Brandon Allen has been prone too, but has played through in year's past.

It's amazing that Texas A&M has the two best QBs in the country on the same roster. It'll be a fun battle to watch. You kind of think one of them might transfer, but damn... how awesome would it be if we got two years of Allen(he's obviously going to be the number 2 pick in the draft behind Myles Garrett in 2017), Murray redshirts, and then you get three years of Kyler? frick that would awesome.

A&M is going to run the double-barreled shotgun offense.

I've developed an algorithm that shows to a certainty that Allen and Murray will both start in a breakthrough new two QB formation that will come forevermore to be known as "The Gay Wildcat." Murray, standing tall at the level of Allen's crotch, will take the shotgun snap. Misdirection will be key to what happens next. Murray and Allen, in a whirl of arms and legs and tight bottoms, will dance a dance designed to leave the defense wondering who has the ball.

The two QBs will share the Heisman trophy, which will be redesigned and renamed in their honor in some blatantly gay manner. It's going to be a beautiful season.

I understand the resentment and the general indifference from the rant, but it really is kind of a big deal.

#1 pocket passer, so so hs production, camp/ scout all star vs GOAT HS legend with no elite measurables.

I'd be interested if it were happening at any school because I'm a college football fan.

You sure are butthurt over not being able to fellate Murray on the SECR a much as you'd like.

Not surprising you don't see the difference between threads started (1) by someone specifically about his team or a player on that team and (2) by someone specifically about another team or a player on that team. There are many nuances to this balance but you don't care about that.

I get tired of repeating myself, but you exhibit the same selection and confirmation biases as many on here who feel singled out or otherwise given unfair treatment. You don't see everything that goes on, you generalize when you have limited information, and you call out admins like a bitch by spamming the board when you have a hissy fit.

You have a problem, take it to the Help Board or email the site instead of conniving on your team board about spamming.

Kyle Allen is a preseason Heisman front-runner. However, most people want to see Johnny 2.0. Two best QBs in the country...

Great offensive line...Great offensive skilled players...Chavis will improve the defense.

It will be nice.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we've identified the mod who deleted the initial "Murray to forego the draft" thread.

God bless you, good sir.

No resentment. Just facts. Texas AM has not even sniffed a division championship since entering the SEC...even with a Heisman trophy winning QB. So i ask, who cares how good your Qbs are when you cant win shite with them?
