Notre Dame hasn't been an elite program in over 20 years.
Was in the championship game a few years ago, and in good position to be in the playoff this year.

they haven't won a championship since 1988. Do you know how many programs have played in a national title game since then? Would you call a team that has appeared (and blown out) in one national title game in nearly 30 years elite?

Notre Dame hasn't played for anything yet. They may not even make the playoiffs this year. Here's their records this century:
2000: 9-3
2001: 5-6
2002: 10-3
2003: 5-7
2004: 6-6
2005: 9-3
2006: 10-3
2007: 3-9
2008: 7-6
2009: 6-6
2010: 8-5
2011: 8-5
2012: 12-1
2013: 9-4
2014: 8-5
2015: 10-1

Overall: 125-76 (62.1%)

That's elite?

Since 2000, LSU has gone 158-48 (76.7%)

That's not elite?

This is after the best 15 years in LSU history. When it all evens out, you'll barely make the top-20.

LSU was 13th or 14th all-time in wins BEFORE Saban ever step foot in Baton Rouge, and this followed the worst 15 years in LSU history.

So you're saying you're behind Georgia instead of tied with them. Ok.

So, according to your link, you acknowledge that the University of Alabama is the most elite team ever in college football history....

Historically, LSU is not an elite football program.

You are a liar and can't be trusted. LSU isn't first, among Power Five teams, in total wins this century.

That distinction belongs to Oklahoma. Oklahoma has 13 more wins and 8 less losses than LSU does since 2000.

No offense to the folks who use winning percentage instead of total wins but Boise State and Ga Southern don't belong in the discussion. LSU is 12th among Power Five schools in total wins, first in this century. That makes them elite in my book.

Still not 9th in either statistic even if you eliminate Georgia Southern and Boise.

Morons.

LSU is, by the nature of the circumstances in Louisiana, ABSOLUTELY an ELITE PROGRAM.

I can take off the maroon glasses on this. I can be objective, even when everybody else is stupid.

What makes an elite program? Can other compete?

LSU is the only game in town in a talent-rich state, with a monopoly on fans, and top-notch facilities. No other program in the nation has a similar set of built-in advantages. The fricking longhorns are the only other program to have that many built advantages, but that was back in the 60's. They like to pretend like they still have that level of control. It's cute.
