LSU fan here, but not privy on Bama's Front 7.

Bama's 2016 Front 7 was composed of household names, for non-Bama fans, of dominant players like Jonathan Allen, Tim Williams, Rueben Foster, and Ryen Anderson.

Who are the playmakers for this year's Front 7, and who may be the difference maker this Saturday?

TIA

Isiah Buggs, DeShawn Hand (if healthy), DeRon Payne, Raekwon Davis, Rashaad Evans, Mack Wilson, Anferny Jennings,

The names are different but that's about it. There's a lot more talent on this front 7 than we had in 2012 and 2013.

Key players for us up front are

- Da'Shawn Hand (SR) (DE)
- Da'Ron Payne (JR) (DT)
- Raekwon Davis (SO) (DE)
- Isaiah Buggs (JR) (DE)
- LaBryan Ray (FR) (DE)
- Anfernee Jennings (SO) (Jack)
- Shaun Dion Hamilton (SR) (MLB)
- Rashaan Evans (SR) (WLB)
- Mack Wilson (SO) (MLB)

We aren't as good rushing the QB with 4 as we were last year, but we are very good at blitzing from the edges and with our LBs/CBs. So far have been better against the run this year than last. Probably won't end the season that way, but still elite against the run.

2 of our starters on the edges (Terrell Hall and Christian Miller) were lost for most/all of the season in Game 1 vs Florida State, so considering they were new starter themselves we had to scramble for a bit the first few weeks. However, guys have settled in nicely. Been a really good group so far. Depth isn't great, but injuries have forced some guys to pick it up (Buggs is a big one, freshman LaBryan Ray) and we've built a little more as the season progressed.

Once everyone came back (minus Hand, who will be back this week) we started really getting into the backfield a lot :

October Stats
- 4.33 Sacks Per Game (#3 Nationally/#1 SEC)
- 8.33 Tackles For Loss Per Game (#12 Nationally/#1 SEC)
- 2.0 rushes of 10+ yards per game (#4 Nationally/#2 SEC)
- 0.3 rushes of 20+ yards per game (#7 Nationally/#1 SEC)

Daron Payne is one of the best nose guards in America. Our DE's are huge guys that can run and occupy linemen while our linebackers clean everything up. Our linebackers are probably as good as any unit in the SEC. Not as good as last year but that front seven was one of the best in college football history. This unit won't have a problem with your OL.

Especially him. He would have had a monster year. Greatly look forward to him getting back on the field.

Anfernee Jennings is second in the league in QB hurries despite missing 3 games. They get after it. Jennings, Davis, Evans are all really good pass rushers. We’ll get pressure with 4

Ben Davis? Was that the other 5* LB that came in with Wilson? How has he been doing?

The rats from Baton Rouge, Moses and Allen, have they done anything yet?

Yea Ben doesn’t play, I was referring to Raekwon. 6 TFL and 5.5 sacks. He’s just a mountain of a human being that’s hard to block

Moses and Allen

Allen was pressed into duty early with all of our injuries. He looked very athletic but he was clearly not sure where to be. Missed some run fits and overran stuff against Colorado State and Fresno.

Moses has played on special teams quite a bit and played at LB in those same games as Allen when half our defense was hurt. Played pretty well.

Both part of the second unit. Allen has started a game or two when the injury bug hit earlier this year. Moses has been great on the coverage units. They’ve gotten valuable experience that will help the transition into starting down the road a lot easier, same blueprint as talented defensive freshmen in the past under Saban really. Learn behind the old 5 stars and one day you’ll be the old 5 Star.
