Not saying that he's not the top target, or even a target at all, but Schumann is a South Georgia Boy like Kirby (Valdosta) and has hitched his wagon to Kirby's, when he could have stayed with Saban.
What?

His dad played for Bear Bryant and he himself is an Alabama alum.
Saban gave him his first coaching opportunity and he was on the Alabama staff for 4 years.
Are you on crack?

Schumann moved all over because his Dad was a coach. Take a wild guess where his Dad played college football. Starts with A, ends with A, and has 2 other A letters in the name. That, and the fact that Nick Saban was at Alabama is why Glenn Schumann attended The University of Alabama, and of course started his coaching career with Saban.
That isn't the only reason Schumann will probably go back to Alabama if offered the job. Word is that he was upset when Lanning took the Oregon job and he wasn't given the DC job, but is Co DC with Muschamp. Anybody that has a clue about college football knows that a guy is much more likely to land a head coach job if he's a Coordinator with all the responsibilities himself, and not as a Co Coordinator.
after graduating high school in Texas, Schumann enrolled at Alabama to be a student assistant under legendary coach Nick Saban in 2008.

By the way, guess in what state Kirby Smart was born. Starts with A, ends with A, with 2 other A letters in the name.

Nah- not stealing. He was at Bama first.

If Saban decides to hire Schumann, I wonder if he'll take a photo of Georgia's recruiting board on his way out the door.
nahhhh. Alabama recruits better than Georgia anyway.

Between losing Lanning and Schuman, that would be a lot of brain drain on the Georgia defensive staff. Hope it ain't true.

I remember when Saban told Kirby not to take a lateral move back to his alma mater. Worked out for Kirby. Hopefully Schumann learns from that.

Is it a lateral move going from Co-DC to a full DC?

Schumann calls the defense, so yeah
IIRC, Lanning was also a co-DC and he’s now the head coach at Oregon

I've seen this repeated. I have it on 2nd hand knowledge that it is false.
Somehow it has made it to a Bama board and has been repeated over and over and over and over.

I know he is an Alabama alum. But, he was born in Valdosta, Georgia.

Yet, here he is, accomplishing shite that Saban has yet to accomplish.
In a state that begins with G and ends with A.
Look, I can tell that y'all have a hard on for Schumann. I remember a lot of Bama fans being upset that he left with Kirby, but Kirby actually made the kid a position coach.
If he leaves, he leaves. But he is under the Kirby learning tree, which is why I said "good luck".
Kirby was once offered a lateral move to his Alma Mater.
Know what happened?
He turned it down.
Chances are, Schumann heard the advice given to Kirby by Nick Saban himself.
If Bama wants to take a chance and throw millions at a 32 year old to make him it's DC, that's well and good. Saban has hit more than he has missed on hiring coordinators, his past two being the exceptions.
When Saban calls, Shumann will have a difficult decision to make: Kirby, or Saban.
Which one will better help him reach his ceiling....

We're really riding that "first back to back playoff champ" train hard with this one.

I just can't see why he'd make a lateral move.
Nothing to gain really.

Hard? No. Just calling it as it stands on the playing field.
Not sure why it bothers you. Saban has done some things that no one else has done.
Enjoy it.
