You schleps from UGA get your great coaches from Bama. Kirby’s dad was from Bama and went to Howard College, Bobby Bowden’s alma mater. Kirby was born in Montgomery, wound up in Bainbridge due to Dad’s coaching career. Kirby was a GA at FSU for Bobby and Mickey. Vince was an Auburn man.

All these men, after spend considerable time in Alabama, left for something better..

Yeah well I heard that Kirby Smart is going to the NFL and Mark Richt is coming back as an unexpected gap year head coach. Richt said he doesn't plan to recruit.

Former Southern Miss DC Austin Armstrong is joining @AlabamaFTBL’s defensive staff as a position coach and is already on campus, sources tell ESPN. He will take the spot vacated when Charles Kelly left for Colorado. @JohnDBrice1 first reported Armstrong was a strong candidate

His dad played for Bear Bryant and he himself is an Alabama alum.

Still doesn’t change the fact that he was born in Valdosta, GA. Kirby Smart was born in Mobile, AL, but still played for, and is the head coach of, UGA.

post:Posted byMessageBLGEarly word is Glenn Shumann is the top target for Bama by BLGIf Saban decides to hire Schumann, I wonder if he'll take a photo of Georgia's recruiting board on his way out the door.

I guess that may have happened. I’ve only seen it mentioned by Alabama yokels and only on their message boards, but yea, OK. As organized and attentive to detail as Kirby Smart is, I seriously doubt he needed to take a picture of anything that was in those offices. But hey….Kirby was being honest to recruits about where they stood with Alabama. Saban was lying his arse off to land them and let them sit.

No, we just simply cannot keep them all at home. Not enough room, so we graciously send our sons out to do great things in other places!

There's nothing significant about being the first playoff team to win back to back championships.

So having to win the extra playoff game to get to the Natty isn't significant? BS!

Nope born and raised in Metro Atlanta, just smart enough and lucky enough to choose Bama as my team 52 years ago when I was 6 years old. Graduated from a small college that did not have a football program, so no need to switch. I was referring to the school not the state, I will add it seems like the majority of the citizens in Alabama appear to be smarter than the majority of the citizens in Georgia as they did not vote for Joe Biden for President.

This comes straight from Carlo's (his wife) brother John Davis in Thomaston.

I'm understanding the Schumann connection more.

Schumann's dad was DC for Mike Cavan at Valdosta State, East Tennessee State and SMU, after Cavan was a long time assistant for Dooley. And Cavan's roots are in Thomaston, a former UGA Sugar Bowl quarterback, and easily loved by Kirby and Muschamp.

So little Schumann had it made from the start.

Cavan is even on staff as a senior something or other the past few years - I can imagine him coming in and making coffee in the morning and giving Kirby and Muschamp hell and laughing his arse off

True, it's a more physically demanding/rougher sport.
