The NCAA is not involved with award selections.

This really isn't that big of a snub. Could Sampson have been a finalist? Absolutely. Is it some incredible conspiracy he wasn't chosen? No.

What's crazy is we have a freshman RB called Peyton Lewis who looks very similar to Vol Legend Jamal Lewis whenever they give the ball to him.

I told everyone Sampson was going to be really special and now I'm telling you that Peyton Lewis might even more special.

Big fast, violent bruiser of a back. Sampson showed glimpses of greatness his freshman year, but he was not as impressive looking as Lewis is imo.

Heuple and his staff know how to identify early and recruit elite RB talent as well as anyone in the country.

Bishop looks really good too for us. We are loaded at the RB position moving forward.

Against terrible competition he should have better stats

He had 177 yards on 25 carries at Oregon. He's legit and clearly the best back in the country.

Stfu you fake Vol. Oregon is only one game and Sampson would have likely hung 250 plus on UGA if we gave him his usual amount of carries.

Please give us Oregon in the playoffs just to make a point. Sick you of cucks.

Because he sucks d***ks like you. You are a Vol fan and therefore you are a lowlife, worthless, d***sucker who is not on the same level of the food chain as the rest of us. You can't give a prestigous award to a d***k sucker....

The most carries Sampson has had this season was 30 against Ms State. He was averaging 22 carries a game in SEC play before Tennessee went to Athens. Also, he would have needed to average over 13 ypc on those “extra carries” that he didn’t get against UGA to reach 250 yards.

Fair point with the number of carries but it's safe to say he would have had a significant amount more in the second half per carry than first if we just kept feeding him the ball. But 30 carries would have been 156 yards or so if his average per carry number remained the same. 200 plus is pretty reasonable imo.

So it’s a single game award? Because they played nobody outside of Oregon.

No, just simply pointing out that he’s not just putting up big numbers against Mountain West opposition.

Ok, but outside of that one game who have they played that would realistically be 6-6 with an SEC schedule.

Jeanty has over 2100 total yards and 28 TD.
Hampton has 1650 total yards and 15 TD.
Johnson has 1600 total yards and 22 TD.

Sampson has 1400 total yards and 22 TD.

All have the same or better yards per carry as Sampson.

Sampson is close, but in terms of raw statistics the three they picked were better. The argument for Sampson is about the quality of opponent

I'd probably choose him over Hampton personally as he has the same YPC but more carries and fewer TD's, but I don't think it's a gimme. They ended up taking the guys in first, second and third in the nation in rushing. That seems fine.

God you are irritating. Do I need to explain this to you? SEC is better than whatever conference Boise plays in. They literally played 1 decent team this year. Vols played significantly better competition.

This isn’t splitting hairs to justify uga having shitty games.

He had 33 yards rushing in the second half on 3 less carries than he had in the first half.

Why are you including passing stats for a rushing award? It’s an honest non troll question because based on raw rushing numbers Sampson is no worse than 3rd and doing it against significantly better competition. And really should be a finalist for the Doak Walker award.
