Did you notice Auburn had a complete rebuild on the defensive line in 2020?

BK Bryant? Hurt to start the season, lingered through year
Derrick Brown? Drafted
Marlon Davidson? Drafted
Nick Coe? Gone
Coynis Miller? Opted out

I did. That is what happens when you stop recruiting 5 years ago when they signed Derrick Brown.

There were two year where we didn't sign a single DT in the last 5 years. That's why we had to "rebuild."

It’s possible. Not every school can buy grocery stores and get house sitting gigs for parents. We help where we can though.

Gus got very rich for being average and beat Alabama that didn't help Auburn much.

You are making Gus Light very rich.

Every HC at a P5 school is getting rich. You are making an ignorant point.

Yep. If you go back and look at the game, it looks like Saban let Auburn win in 2017. He knew he had the Gump Mulligan, no need to win the game.

Brooks was a beast in the State Championship game. This is a big pick up for Auburn, and getting one of the top in-state players is important.

Tennessee was connecting quite a pipeline to Alabama this last recruiting cycle under Pruitt. I blame it on the barn. Brooks is the kind of instate recruit that gets harvested in the early signing period and it was painfully obvious that Gus wasn't closing the deal. Probably put the handwriting on the wall more than anything else.

The barn is fortunate to get a second chance. And hopefully, with Pruitt's ignominious exit, it shut that state pipeline down.

Glad he got out of a bad situation...
Yep, glad he wasn't stuck with that shitshow at UT. Can he play immediately? Has the NCAA gotten off their asses and cleared transfers to play this season?

He is not considered a transfer and is just like any other 2021 signee.

Correct. They story was he was originally released with a block on transferring to another SEC school, but they eventually released him with no restriction.

Great to hear.

This is a perfect example of the early signing period causing a problem like Coach Saban warned before it was enacted. Sign early with a staff/coach, then the coach leaves or gets fired and the recruit could be stuck in an NLI with no way out.

I am curious. If he is not considered a transfer, how could UT block him? Maybe I am using too much logic here (I mean, we are talking about the NCAA) but if he is considered just another signeee for Auburn and not a transfer, how could UT block him? He signed a LOI. I get that he never enrolled, so I am thinking that played a part?

The way its been explained in similar cases is he's not a transfer because he never enrolled/attended the university. But since he signed an NLI, he was obligated to play at that university. When the university nullifies the NLI, the player essentially becomes an uncommitted recruit again. But this is all at the discretion of the NCAA so they're just making it up as they go along

I hope that you are right on the pipeline to Tennessee getting shut down. For a couple of weeks it seemed like Pruett was snagging a lot of big names. Reminded me of the year Ole Miss went crazy on signing day. Of course they got hammered by the NCAA a couple of years later....
