"In 2018, LSU brought in $122 million in revenue according to the WSJ, good enough for eighth-most nationally." LINK

The ineligibility or the game?

It's not talk of the colleges paying anyway. It's saying the players are allowed to make money off their likeness. Endorsements, YouTube channels, etc. It's a common sense change.

All those arguing it will cause corruption need to show me where all these corruption free schools are in the current system.

Ineligibility.

That would frick over multiple conferences and the NCAA would lose the most populous state.

Cali is calling their bluff and the NCAA is sweating bullets. frick the NCAA. Eventually more and more states will follow and the NCAA will be forced to modernize.

You do realize the schools can't pay for them directly right?

Can you show me the law where it was previously illegal?

What law? This has nothing to do with the law. It's an NCAA eligibility issue.

I don’t think our friend fully understands what is happening here, but I’m not surprised.

As a poster pointed out on the Alabama board, it's always been legal.

Not sure what that means without context. An athlete has never been able to use their likeness, picture, name etc. for as long as I can remember. It's an NCAA rule, not a law.

Exactly, but that is why it favors big markets like Los Angeles. Much bigger population and spending power than Oxford Mississippi. Endorsmentes will be bigger in bigger markets, hence attract better talent from anywhere.

So I don't know what this thread is really about.

A bunch of other states are already considering similar legislation, Washington, Colorado, NY, NC and SC.

It will never get very far. The Elizabeth Warrens and Kamala Harrises of the world aren't about to sit still and allow a system that allows a bunch of future male millionaires to make big bucks in college while the girls get nothing.

That would be the case if people gave a shite about NCAA football in places like LA. There's a lot of money in small town SEC country

And here's another thing: Herschel, Bo, Peyton, Johnny Football...all those guys could have sued the NCAA any time they wanted to. They didn't, for a reason. It's not a winnable case. Otherwise, this would have been before the courts long ago.
