As to smoking weed. Just because LSU goes above and beyond NCAA mandates doesn't mean everyone should.
The NFL has considered taking it off the banned list. I've even heard Saban doesn't care if players smoke weed as long as it isn't during the season.
It's really a cultural thing and surprisingly Saban is usually progressive and a step ahead on these things.
At one time he was the only major coach saying players should be paid while Dabo was threatening to quit CFB if that ever happened.
Like with everything, Saban moved the national conversation his way.
Weed will be next.
And people wonder why players want to play for him. Yeah he's a disciplinarian. He's also on their side.
It's why he helped lead a march with his players in the summer while other coaches had a fractured lockerroom due to his outspoken politics.
