Does this make Notre Dame rethink its stance as a football Independent?

Let’s face it, if Notre Dame had their football team playing in the ACC as they do in all other sports, they’d have almost certainly won the conference championship game last night and would be a lock for the playoff, perhaps even with a first round bye. But Notre Dame thinks they’re special. So they’ve maintained their status as a football independent. That has now come back to bite them in the arse.

They can throw blame however they want, but it’s Notre Dame’s own fault they’re not in the playoff this year. And that’s because they think they’re better than the ACC.

Now they know they’re not.

What happened that didn't allow ND to play in the ACC title game? Didn't they just play in it a few years ago?

They quit playing them or something? I don't keep track of ND.

They joined just for the COVID season because all conferences cancelled ooc games.

Notre Dame should absolutely play in a conference. Over the long haul they’re middle of the pack with Clemson, FSU, Miami, and others. I’m glad they’re out & hope they reconsider.

They lowered themselves to “join” the ACC in football for the COVID season. Soon as things went back to normal, Notre Dame, who is a longstanding member of the ACC in all other sports, reclaimed their status as an independent in football.

Now that decision has come back to bite them in the arse. They would have arse raped either Duke or Virginia last night and would be in the playoff today if they were not snobs and have delusions of grandeur that they’re above being in a conference.

Apparently they won't go to Big 10, and the ACC is about to be dismantled and consumed.

So where the hell are they gonna go? Big 12? SEC?

Their likely solution is they're gonna stay independent and not schedule tougher teams at the start of the year.

You would think but it took many years for them to start playing bowl games.

It should. College football is just a television show for disney corporation and they’re going to give the playoff bid to their money maker darlings if they can even justify it by .01%
I.e. bama getting in over ND
If they want to make the playoffs, gotta make more money for disney throughout the season. That’s what truly matters

frick ND. That said, why would they join a conference? The only reason they were a factor this year was their name, and their shitty hand-selected schedule. Their SOR was already well out of the playoffs at 13, and that’s before taking into account the AQs. ND was far from screwed, this is one of the first times they didn’t benefit by their name alone. BYU was the team that was shafted.

They’re already in the ACC in everything except football.

No, it’s not going to make them rethink joining a conference.

Notre Dame did not do anything wrong. They are different in the aspect that they are a National Brand. It was not their fault that some of the teams they played this year were not good i. e. Arkansas, Stanford, NC State. They lost two games to really good teams by a combined 4 points.
Not sure they need to do anything different.
Probably 9 out of 10 years they would be in.

Not really sure why JM is in over Duke. That is a head scratcher. Tulane earned their spot.
It will all shake out in due time.

Georgia seems to be playing the best football right now and I think they are going to win it all. They should be #2. Not sure how Ohio State is above them.

Yep, but they won't pull the trigger now to join in football seeing that the ACC is next to die in conference realignment.
