No

No chance at all

For the last 2 decades Tennessee has been a so-so Program, a borderline garbage Program TBH

Your record vs Top10s is on the same level as Vandy over the last 20 yrs

You are what your record says you are.....

That was great for 2 seasons ago, my comments are about CFB & where Tennessee belongs going forward

They have a chance. Pruitt is the best defensive mind in the East and maybe the conference imo. His issue is that UGA & UF both have had significantly more talented rosters than what he's had to work with in his first 2 years in Knoxville. He's brought in some good classes since taking over though so that gap looks to be closing a little bit. They've made a big jump on that side of the ball from Butch's last year to now. It'll be interesting to watch it play out.

2017 - 82nd in total defense (Jones' last year)
2018 - 49th in total defense
2019 - 23rd in total defense
2020 -

They still belong ahead of GT going forward, though that's a pretty low bar.

Tennessee is still a significantly better program than Tech despite not making an SEC Championship game since 2007 & thats not debatable. You lost in Atlanta recently to a 4-8 Butch Jones led squad. I think perhaps their worst team in program history -- Tech and last seasons 3-9 record have absolutely no hill to stand on during this conversation. If their bar is pretty low moving forward for UT than your bar is in the gutter.

Tennessee actually lost a lot on the defensive side of the ball from last year.

Daniel Bituli and Nigel Warrior were two of the top three tacklers that I remember. Don't know what else yall lost on Defense but those guys were pretty big.

Jermey Pruitt, I don’t think you can count them out. All programs go through rough times,Tennessee is no different, they just been wondering the desert a little longer than most. If they could get that offense in gear, they could surprise some people.

Well, that's like your opinion.

He gave up 38 to Georgia State (they averaged 31 for the season).
He gave up 29 to BYU (averaged 28 for the season).
He gave up 34 to Florida (averaged 33 for the season).
He gave up 43 to Georgia (averaged 30 for the season).

He had issues like that as the DC at Georgia as well (27 points to Florida with Treon Harris at QB) (400 yards rushing to GT).

Maybe next year or the year after with the way they've recruited but I don't see it this year.

UTk had some roster and staff turnover last year that'll take some adjusting to.

I also think there is a correlation between good defense and TOP. No defense is gonna be the best if they play 70% of the snaps in a game.

Tennessee will be better than Florida. Year two is when teams pop and Pruitt knows how to coach ball.

We finished 23rd last year while UGA and UF were top 10. That said, we do bring back Henry To'oto and an insanely talented secondary. Our defense should be solid.

UGA was top 3 by any measure and returns almost everyone plus some impact freshman. Tennessee having a better defense would be shocking.
