I mean, Pruitt is one of us. He's an Alabama guy who went to Alabama and then grew up coaching in Alabama. He's at a rival now, but he's an Alabama guy from the time he was born. Kirby, for all the good he did at Alabama, isn't - he's all that stuff for Georgia.

On top of that, there is the curiosity of Pruitt doing well at Tennessee and then coming back to Alabama. It adds a bit of "while we hate Tennessee he could be proving he is good and then comes and brings that home" to it. There is none of that with Kirby - Georgia is home, so none of his success offers any sort of selfish good for us.

I dunno, that's my take on it. I don't care too much about Kirby either way - I loved the work he did here and don't much care about all the recruiting stuff when he left because it's recruiting and that shite is nasty everywhere.

To the point of the thread, Georgia will clearly have the best defense in the SEC East and in all likelihood the conference (and maybe the nation) this year.

They've gotten guys who have proven to be very good at roles within a complex scheme and almost all of them are returning. They will be extremely good.

What are the blind spots for UGA in 2020 on defense?

DL rotation. The starters are studs. But we played about 8 or 9 guys in rotation in 2019. After the top 5 guys in 2020, everyone is a question-mark. Redshirts, sophomores buried behind a large senior class in 2019, and a highly recruited OL turned NT. We just dont know what they can do against a Bama or Kentucky OL.

DB depth. We went 7 DBs at times against LSU. And that didnt work out great. Everyone focuses on the 2 starting CBs and 2 starting safeties. Well... the nickel, dime, and extra safety dropping down can be just as important against a prolific offense. Just like you need 7 OL who can win games (injuries), you need about 8 DBs. If the opposing teams have the personnel to do it, they will put speed on the field and force us to keep our stud LBs on the sidelines. Who would they rather face? Nakobe Dean/Monty Rice/Quay Walker or Mark Webb/Divaad Wilson/William Poole/Chris Smith?

The offense may be the biggest question mark for the defense. Turnovers, short fields, time of possession. I think we saw it in 2008 when we were expected to be the best but took a sizable step back. An inability to offensively run the football and inability to pressure QBs/turnovers can make a talented defensive team underperform.
