No. We turned down our shot at the Big 10 because they wanted us to serve as "junior members" or pledges essentially, for a certain number of years. This lesser treatment was exactly what our administration wanted out of the Big 12 for, which is why we balked at the big 10's offer. The SEC was exactly what we wanted, equal status from day 1.

I think Mizzou would have been a natural rival to Illinois. They already are in basketball.

I read 2 pages of this thread before being done with it, not reading another word. Youre retarded for even asking the question in the first place

No frigging way. We landed in the best conference. There is no way you can regret that. Bevo is not a member.

I've been to Fayettehills more time than I can remember, and I can assure you it's not a southern town either.
I mean, if Walmart makes you southern, then I guess the world is southern.
In that case, the SEC should invite Syracuse or Northwestern into the SEC as the 15th and 16th members.
Everyone's southeastern.

The US census disagrees

You're good at making dumb arguments. The US census considers El Paso and Oklahoma City "southern." Heck, it considers Delaware "South Atlantic."

Porker dumbs (verb) around here 24/7...so no surprise there.

I'd agree that Benton County (Rogers/Bentonville) has generally always been somewhat less southern. That was the case long before Wal-Mart's big growth. They were one of the only reliably Republican counties in Arkansas, back when the rest of the south was Democratic. They got a lot of Michiganders and Chicagoans for decades, both workers and retirees.
Fayetteville is southern. Count the BBQ joints. Its not traditional "black" old south, and western Arkansas has always had a little bit more of "wild west" to it ala Texas, but its still Southern. Families from Little Rock, Stuttgart and Pine Bluff have been sending their kids to Fayetteville to school since 1871. Lots of the local bigwigs are transplants from eastern Arkansas and the Delta.
There is a definite shift that happens shortly north of Joplin that makes Missouri feel very midwestern for the most part. Cornfields, etc.

Yankee Carpetbaggers are laughing all the way to the bank. All they have to do is show up on the field and cash their SEC welfare checks.

Yet it STILL doesn't consider CoMo southern! That should tell you just how northern your school is

I can't tell who is being sarcastic from those who are trolling from those who are just plain crazy. I'm going to go onto the porch and watch it rain.

Mizzou was never a good SEC fit.... unlike Texas A&M they don't have a huge following, no football history, and little cultural fit.
What makes you feel your such a better fit? I didn't know the rest of these SEC teams were into jizzjars and the like.
I've been here long enough to know, thats a one team tradition round here......yours.

I already stipulated that CoMo wasn't southern (culturally or geographically). So it looks like we agree in that. I'm certain that the US Census geographic divisions are artificial and arbitrary for a "cultural" argument. El Paso isn't Southern. And neither is Dover. So, your claim that US Census boundaries are relevant to the discussion is as pitiful as any other of your arguments.
Wrt "malevolent," there are plenty of online resources to assist you in ascertaining its meanIng. Good luck!

Why were Arkie and Mizzou not scheduled for the first season? The SEC is screwing itself by not getting this rivalry going ASAP.
