The amount of true freshmen and redshirt freshmen that contributed in 2018 was insane.
Luckily, the East was still average at best and we were able to get to Atlanta.
By now though... those freshmen aren't playing like freshmen. This year was a rebuild.
I don't know if we can sustain this level of recruiting. But if we can, we shouldn't have to rebuild again.

Are you suggesting for him to be fired for only being 2nd best in the nation? That’s absurd.

We only fire coaches that only win 10 games. Win 11 and you get to stay.
But he will not stay at 11-12 for ever! Will lose 3 games or more some time again in the near future!

It would be a major disappointment if Alabama and Georgia didn’t play for the SEC title again in 2019. Something would have gravely wrong. Both will be far and away the most talented teams in their division.
Agreed. It will be a huge disappointment for either program to miss the SECCG.
However, a single game can cost a team the chance, and we proved this year that we are beatable.

Absolutely. You fire them too quick and next thing you know Auburn will come in and scoop them up.

They will be replaced by this upcoming recruiting class which will be the best recruiting class ever. This class will be better than the all-time great 2017 class which is better than to so-called great 2018 UGA class. Georgia' freshman participation report (yes... we've been tracking this all season. No, this does not include walkons who have gotten a lot of snaps as well).
225 games played. (48 games on the offensive line).
53 game starts (23 game starts on the offensive line).
556 rushing yards on 84 attempts with 6 rushing TDs.
93 receiving yards on 9 catches with 0 TDs.
69% pass completion 27 for 39 for 328 yards, 4 TDs, and no INTs.
87 solo tackles.
84 assisted tackles (171 total).
12 tackles for loss.
5.5 sacks.
11 QB hurries.
2 forced fumbles.
13 pass breakups.
61 return yards with 1 TD.
38 punts averaging 43.21 for 1,642 yards.
TLDR
Tons of starts and action on the OL.
Tons of defensive players working their way up the depth chart for a significant role by Oct/Nov.

You don't think it was a great class?

You seem to always take offense if anybody says something nice about another program. Chill, brother. Everybody knows that Alabama is still the king.

Next year these will be his guys mostly on the field. Does he get one more oopsie? Or will he just be another almost coach.
We're gonna fire him and tar and feather him and run him out of town on a rail of he doesn't beat Saban next year. I mean, it's easy to beat Saban and Kirby has been head coach for almost three seasons now, so his time is running out. And the bum took almost two full seasons to play for a NC and has only played in two SEC championship games in his three years of HC'ing. Let's face it, guy's a bum.

You don't think Chubb and Michel were two of the greatest? the had the most yards for two teammates in a single year. I would say they were one of the greatest tamdems of all time.

I'm not sure it is even debatable considering production.

I kind of doubt UGA beats Alabama as long as Chaney is the OC, that is a Saban 1.0 type hire. While it has gotten the dawgs close, that offense can’t close against the Tide.
Obviously Georgia is giving themselves more than a punchers chance the past couple of years, so it could happen, but trying to beat Saban at his own game hasn’t been fruitful for anyone

It looks like year 4 is the sweet spot for turning a program around and getting a NC. Kirby is entering year 4 in 2019. Our offensive line was terrible and we will finally put out some Kirby/Pittman upperclassmen starting on the o-line in 2019. UGA was in decent shape overall but the O-line/D-line was not championship caliber and the roster was generally mismanaged and scholarships were underutilized under Richt.
The greatest dynasty of all time stands between Kirby and a NC. Alabama has employed the most talented rosters in college football and has that team up and running like a well-oiled machine. They have a system in place and can regularly restock lost production with upperclassman that have sat to fill the holes. In addition Tua changed Alabama from a power run team with great defense to one of the most dynamic offenses we have ever seen. Kirby is catching up in the talent department, but we are not there yet. We are not at a point where we are plugging in RS sophomore, junior and senior depth if someone chooses to leave early or a big time contributor leaves. UGA's early entries into the NFL this year might determine how well we can compete with Alabama in 2019 because we don't have Alabama depth yet. We went toe to toe with Alabama for the last two years and I expect them to face off again in the 2019 SEC championship game. Most fans have been pointing to 2019 hopefully Kirby gets the win. UGA and Kirby are hungry for this.
Kirby has time though as shown below. Bob Stoops is the outlier here winning in year 2, however it was at a traditional power. here are some notable names, how old they were, how long they were a head coach and how long they were at a program when they won their first title.
coach/ age/ 1st NC/ years as head coach/ year at program
Nick Saban (52) 1st NC 2003: 10 years as head coach, 4th year at LSU
Urban Meyer (42) 1st NC 2006: 6 years as head coach, 2nd year at UF
Dabo Sweeney (47) 1st NC 2016: 9 years as head coach, 9th year at Clemson
Jimbo Fisher (48) 1st NC 2013: 4 years as head coach, 4th year at FSU
Pete Carroll (52) 1st NC 2003 7 years as head coach, 3rd year at USC
Bob Stoops (40) 1st NC 2000 2 years as head coach, 2nd year at OU
Steve Spurrier (51) 1st NC 1996, 13 years as head coach, 7th year at UF
Bobby Bowden (64) 1st NC 1993, 28 years as head coach, 18th year at FSU
Jimmy Johnson (44) only NC 1987 9 years as head coach, 4th year at Miami
