Does anyone in the Big 10 run a hurry up offense? Id like to know how many games Bret has actually coached against a hurry up offense to cause him to have this stance against it.

The fact is no one buys this bull shite but Arky fans. I would probably back up my new coach too, but this just seems ridiculous. Sorry if you're players get tired, I don't know what to tell you. And it does bug me that a guy who has yet to coach an SEC game is making this much noise. Can't imagine the bitching he will do in a few years.

On the plus side, it should make for an intense game between Auburn and Arky this year.

Not really. If the refs want to call a penalty that is already a penalty under the rules, I have no problem with that. It has no bearing on the HUNH issue. The HUNH has to be run within the rules just like any other scheme.

I think we should wait on rule changes til we have conclusive evidence. Rule changes usually frick us over long run when they happen.

Agreed. Even then I'm not sure a rules change is the answer, but at a minimum we need some conclusive scientific evidence before making any kind of change.

Not sure why the media has decided as of yesterday to create some fake rivalry between Gus and Bret. They dont know eachother and have never coached against each other. Gus made zero comment about Arkansas even when asked specifically about that program. AU/Arky is an important game to get to Atl just like any other SEC game...nothing more.

He is focusing on Auburn and right now Wash St.

BTW, the fact that he said he wants to play "American Football" tells you all you need to know abut whether this really has anything to do with his concerns about player safety.

that first quarter is usually intense. It's the rest of the game that you all need to figure out how to make interesting.

he's already a well established coach it isn't his first year running a major conference program. Why would he be shy?

and no one is mad about it but auburn fans, lets be honest though it's really all about BB agreeing with the dark lord saban.

I don't have a problem with it either. The thing is that when you run the game at a pace faster than the refs can follow the rules will change to allow for better officiating. I'd hope if that's the problem instead of slowing the game down more they'd just add another ref (didn't someone add an additional one this year anyways?)

We had one shitty coach that has made us an SEC doormat the last few years. Amazing how short term everyone's memory is. And yeah it's annoying to Auburn fans because a coach is trying to change the type of offense we run based on bull shite reasoning.

Well done OP
I haven't posted this much the rant since football season.

I thought you could sub out defensive players if the offense subed out a player. Isn't that a rule?

It is the rule, the ref is suppose to stand over the ball allowing for defensive subs when they occur.

Part of Gus' smoke and mirror offense is "slip subbing" where a guy is by the side line and slips off the field while his replacement slips on, it is up to the refs to notice the sub and allow the defense an opportunity.

The refs don't have to call penalties to slow the pace, they can take longer spotting the ball/making it ready to play which is something Gus loves to bitch about, so I can't wait for the Auburn threads bitching about it this fall.

Is there video evidence of this dastardly maneuver?

Gus is 0-1 against Bert.

Gus had 3 NFL runningbacks and a great defense at his disposal and still lost.

Was that after HDN had taken the reigns away from Gus?

Was Arky running the HUNH?
