quote:Now jealousy is setting in. Auburn won a National Championship with a terrible head coach, while Arkansas couldn't even win a Sugar Bowl with Bobby Petrino (who just so happens to be a definite top 10 coach in college football).
You mean the only HC to win you a MNC in past 55 years?

The annual 4th Place Bowl looks like it is heating up nicely. Hopefully Ole Miss isn't a flash in the pan and it is the 5th Place Bowl.

Arkansas fans are going to be pissed they hired Bielema instead of Malzahn.
wasn't petrino's defense of all things like 4-1 against malzahn? Only loss being to cam

Here's what Bielema said in response to Malzahn. We know that he's not a scientist, he's not good with computers, and it's a fact that he has as many offensive players as he does defensive.
....
Bielema followed Malzahn at Media Days Wednesday and responded rather bluntly when asked specifically about the ‘joke’ comment.
“I'm not a comedian ... it's not a joke to me,” Bielema said. “It's something that I really feel strongly about. It's not rhetoric. I'm not a scientist. You do not want me to walk in with a computer and try to figure things out. But I had a guy email me two weeks ago because he read the articles. He was all about there is statistical evidence that shows that as players become more tired, they become more vulnerable to injury. That's all I'm talking about.
“If you want to play hurry-up offense, play it. I'll play you, I don't care. But it doesn't mean that I cannot try to protect my players offensively and defensively. I have just as many offensive players as I have defensive players. That's the facts.”
Bielema also took on Malzahn’s comments about players faking injuries.
“You know what, in addition to not being a comedian, I'm not an actor,” he said. “I can't tell you how to tell a kid how to fake an injury. I understand. I think there are people that have openly admitted, said that. I think you probably have in those situations a coach dealing with a situation that he doesn't know how to handle and a player asking the same thing. I tell a player all the time, If you're injured, go down, stay down. If you can tell me the severity of an injury by how much the guy is crying or wincing, more power to you. I'm not trying to be a doctor.
“There's certain things that the Rules Committee addressed to make sure people weren't doing that, take time off the clock, have certain penalties. It's certainly something that people have to stay abreast of.”

Yeah he beat him when he was at tulsa and had the #1 offense in the country too...though i realize tulsa doesn't have the talent AU does

2008- Arkansas win while Gus had the "top offense in the nation" and Arkansas wasn't even good enough to make a bowl game.

Other way around. Bielema has Gus' dream job but Gus the Pius will never walk the sidelines as the Razorback Head Coach.

Gus is a really good offensive football coach but he comes across as a huge dork. He looked uncomfortable, short answers, and was a sweat pit today.
Rookie coach will rookie.

Unlike Bielema, Gus is a Mad Scientist type. You just prepare thy anus for what he's cooking up in the lab

Cute attempt but no one in the SEC is worried about Gus. It was a weak hire.
