considering how ESPN pretty much ignores hockey now that they no longer air it this is not surprising.
they are corporate whores.
plain and simple.

ESPN hates Arky. It's seem to be a popular thing to do.

The game is on FOX. They don't want to pump it up.
I'm still not buying this. It's one game, three hours long and Espn isn't showing any football in that time slot. What's going up against the Cotton Bowl on Espn you ask?
The game all college football fans have been waiting for: Bulls @ Magic

what are you not buying?
if this was on an ESPN/ABC network they would be slobbering all over it.
the absolute only reason they aren't pimping it is b/c they don't air it.

A small go pigs but you know I'll be wearing purple and silver tonight.
I'm just not a fan of Petrino.

I'm not talking about 'pimping' it, I'm talking about a show called College Football Live that was an hour long all week, and they spend a total of 20 SECONDS talking about this game.
I understand it's on a different network. Espn covers shite on different networks constantly. Does Espn think if they don't talk about it, college football fans won't realize it's on and will watch Bulls @ Magic?
How much money do they really stand to lose by putting together some highlights and having Mark May and Jesse Palmer discuss the game for a few minutes? I don't see why there has to be this boycott of the game just because it's on Fox.

You have to know how bad they suck now right. That's why.

its not about college football fans.
its about casual sports fans in general.
they know there are more casual sports fans that would be invested in a football game than a basketball game and are not going to remind people that its on.
they simply are not going to promote things that they don't air.
Again, check out what their coverage of NHL has become. They pretty much ignore it now. You might get some bashing on fighting and concussions now and then but that is pretty much it. You are lucky to even get a preview of individual playoff games.

They are essentially being petty and punishing the Cotton for striking up a deal with a rival network as well as protecting their own interests. Again, they don't want casual sports fans tuning in elsewhere. They like that people have been conditioned to subconsciously thing that if ESPN isn't covering it, it must not exist.
Why do you think their coverage of the Big East is so negative even though it has a better BCS record (7-7 vs 2-13) than the ACC? Why do you think they were encouraging conferences to raid it? Its b/c the BE declined to re-up with them.

Exactly. It's not a small time game. It's a pretty big cotton bowl game.
They can at least discuss/analyze it.

It was like that last year when LSU was there. No mention beforehand and brief highlights afterwards.
I figure they ought to give it a good discussion and breakdown eventhough it's not on their network.

You would think their duty as the worldwide leader in sports would obligate them to analyze/discuss this game.

Yep, and it's not like I'm asking for a Sportscenter segment, I just can't believe they didn't talk about the game on COLLEGE FOOTBALL Live.

Maybe the reason it gets no ESPN luv is becuase everbody already knows who will win this one and thus no suspense or excitement?
It's like watching a rerun.
