re: Do you reckon Lincoln Riley's new $17.2 million home is big enough for him?

OK please explain to me why USC is still such a top destination for coaches or players? Don't worry I'll wait to hear what you have to say. I don't want to hear being given full access to a jet and all that garbage. Please let me know why it's still a great job in 2022, and if so why are they still looking for Pete Carrols replacement all these years later?

Does USC own the home or does Riley?

You get to live in Southern California. Despite the opinions of many on this board that it's a "shite hole" with homeless on every corner and a 100% tax rate, it's actually a very nice place to live, especially for a college kid with NIL money.
Also USC is a legit blue blood program that has a history of winning. I know you remember Bama before Saban arrived and turned things around. Not sure why you think USC couldn't do the same thing with the right coach.

If USC didn't have such a cheap AD they would rule CFB. Best place to live for free, access to California beaches and LA night life.
But their AD sucks
But their AD sucks

Is it just me or does anyone else think USC is no longer that good of a job anymore? Long time California residents are getting the heck out of there. The city of Los Angeles has lost a lot of its glitz and glamour, it is now the go to destination for all of the homeless. It's 2022 and USC is no longer one of the few schools giving out $5,000 handshakes to players, every big time school is! At midnight on Saturday night if there are no SEC teams playing I will tune into a USC game, there are usually about 12 fans in the stands. Coach Riley will quickly realize he left a school where the city shuts down for their teams game, to a city where a football game is the 5th most popular event taking place that day. Big time recruits want to play against the best, just as I thought big time coaches wanted to coach against the best.. Lincoln Riley you are now a very wealthy man, I hope all the money helps you live with the fact you wanted nothing to do with the SEC!
Los Angeles isn't what it used to be, that's for sure!
I'm born and raised here in Southern California, old enough to remember the utopian/idyllic 1950's and early 1960's....the only blight on the L.A. landscape back then was our summer smog. But, Lordy have we done a 180 since then.
Los Angeles, amazingly, still has the "glitz and glamour", although those too young to remember when it glittered so much it would've blinded you can only attest to what it is today. To them, L.A. still has it and, thus, USC still has it, too (mind you, not like it was for just about the entire 20th Century).
Right now, believe it or not, the USC Trojans football program is MORE popular than the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers, not to mention UCLA. The Rams just won the Super Bowl; yet, it's the Trojans that are garnering all the attention and glitz still and Riley hasn't even played nor won his first game with the Trojan Empire. Go figure. But, the Trojans have always generally been THE football program to follow in Los Angeles and Southern California and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon.
USC didn't want anything to do with the SEC? Not true. Most 'SC alumni and fans aren't too happy about moving to the Big 10 and that's the truth. But, it's been done. USC wanted to keep the Pac-12 intact, but w/another Commish to run the show who knew what he was doing. Scott destroyed the Pac-12. USC did what it had to do to keep its athletic dept alive and well and so it is. It is what it is.

A program with the loyalty and following you suggest doesn't have an empty stadium on game day, even if they're down.

Which games played last season had an empty stadium?

Attendance is down from the 100,000+ before they limited the seating to 93,000. The last few years have seen decreased attendance as well.
OU was down all through the 1990's and I remember y'all's attendance was down during that time, too. It happens to everybody.

Proof you don't know what you're talking about.
UGA struggled with attendance during the 1990's when the program was struggling, as well. I can document it.

Everyone is fleeing Cali for Texas, Florida and Idaho for some reason.

Idaho is amazing. Boise has grown more than almost any city in the Midwest.

Hey....who put up all these beautiful mountains here in California? It wasn't me. It was San Andreas' fault.

I'd love to see the numbers. I was there in the 90's. I remember stadium expansion and people camping out in front of Stegman for student tickets. I didn't go to every single game, but the ones I did attend were packed houses.

We weren't as bad as some other schools, but we had less than full capacity games quite a bit.
I'll give you some examples of our attendance during the 1990's....
1990 (82,122 capacity)
-- 4 games below capacity
-- lowest was 77,019 (5,103 below cap)
1991 (85,434 capacity)
-- 4 games below capacity
-- lowest was 76,117 (9,317 below cap)
1992 (85,434 capacity)
-- 3 games below capacity
-- lowest was 75,515 (9,919 below cap)
1993 (85,434 capacity)
-- 5 games below capacity
-- lowest was 63,458 (21,976 below cap)
1994 (86,117 capacity)
-- 4 games below capacity
-- lowest was 70,123 (15,994 below cap)
1995 (86,117 capacity)
-- 2 games below capacity
-- lowest was 78,911 (7,206 below cap)
1996 (86,117 capacity)
-- 5 games below capacity
-- lowest was 73,116 (13,001 below cap)
1997 (86,117 capacity)
-- 4 games below capacity
-- lowest was 74,113 (12,004 below cap)
1998 (86,117 capacity)
-- 3 games below capacity
-- lowest was 83,911 (2,206 below cap)
1999 (86,117 capacity)
-- 0 games below capacity
Texas, OU, LSU and UGA....programs were struggling in the 1990's at these and some others and it affected their attendance numbers, too.

Is that Vinnie Chase's old house???

USC attendance is way worse than any of the other schools listed when they're not winning...in a city of 13+ million.
